Mano Suave of Yasmin Levy

End 2007 Yasmin Levy (1975), the ambassadress of the Ladino, presented her new album Mano Suave (label World Village / harmonia mundi) to the Dutch public. In the Dutch television programme 'Vrije Geluiden' of November 11th, 2007 Yasmin Levy gave an explanation to her new cd. In this programme she also sang three Ladino songs of her new release. This was her final break through in The Netherlands.

Before the release of Levy's Mano Suave took place, Yasmin gave in July 2007 a performance at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam. With her songs she convinced her public of the beauty of the cultural heritage of the Sefardic Jewish who in the middle-ages have been driven out of Spain. The Jewish people fled from the country to eastern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

Yasmin Levy's father was the head of the Ladino-department of the Israelitish National Radio. He signed up the Ladino songs who have been hand down verbal from one generation to another. With her songs and also with Many Suave Yasmin Levy returns to her 'roots'. "I found this attraction to return to my roots irresistible. It is with this inner peace and joy that this album was recorded," says Yasmin Levy.
