It is most unfortunate that the interest level is not there like last year.  The RESCU Foundation is a good cause and can use our support.

When comparing November of last year to the present, the 2009 Faire Season was a time of greater enthusiasm. And, now considering an appropriate word for the pending 2010 Faire Season; “disheartened” is reasonably descriptive.

Our anemic economy still weakens consumer confidence, and is placing greater significance on spending for home and hearth first. Then, an unpopular management decision by ARF CEO Jeffery Siegel frustrated friends with unexpected disappointment.  It’s’ not surprising the community reacted negatively by shifting its support from Faire to Brick n’ Mortar; this being local 7x24x365 community businesses.

RESCU is a continuous and ongoing need; not measured in giving on 1 or 2 occasions. And, the Crafts people and Musicians represent unique and valuable assets, whose talents serve the greater Renaissance Festival community well. Supporting them today and now; is the only way of making tomorrow happen.

obstacles seem to be arising more and more.  not a gloom thing, as percieved on this end.  merely conforms one is getting stronger and closer to goodliness, by me reckoning here.  we have went from 7-ish fairs merely 4 years ago, to 1-2 currently.  i suspect soon, w/loveNlight mindset, these obstacles will start to wane.  just a thought.  we do muskogee/TRF, w/the aspirations of adding good ole AZ, and KC to the list, once the clouds part, or at the least...able to traverse more proficiently these slightly unlightened paths

I agree with Raven's last statement.  I also think for a small group we've done a lot.  It would be nice of the proprietors who rely on these people to maybe put in a percentage of each ticket sold towards the organization that takes care of them.  And maybe they do.  But if this economy doesn't come around, the Faire will suffer as will everything else and the spiral will continue.
Also, after asking a couple of times, I have only had one communication, two months after the $740 was sent, from RESCU that they would make a confirmation and the amount public and I have yet to see any announcement of the amount received by us.  I hope you all are trusting souls....but I asked.  They could do a little better in communicating with the folks who help, in my opinion.
In the meantime, go out and spend money on something you need.  Like I said before, there are those who because of political beliefs do not want this economy to thrive.  They want to go on air and "celebrate" a failing administration and cheer 20% unemployment.  And indeed, there are those who need it the most who believe in these people and everything they say.  I'll continue to do what I can but the way things are we all have to pick our battles.  Now who's headed to the mall with me???
:o)

There was no clear consensus to begin or postpone Auction Thyme 2, a Yule  and RESCU donation event. What speaks so profoundly about the approaching 2010 Festival Season, is increasing satirical humor referencing the BARF (instead of ARF). The celebratory mood of the community so apparent at Midway Affair to Faire has evaporated; leaving a residual indifference.
