Oh My God Don't Stop

You might remember performers like Henny Youngman, Jackie Mason, or even newer face, Sarah Silverman. Well step aside folks because here comes singer/ songwriter/comedienne Amy Steinberg with her new one woman show, Oh My God Don't Stop. This show will keep you laughing from its opening line to long beyond the time you exit the theater.
Oh My God Don't Stop is a one woman show which contains two of our favorite topics, religion and sex; and judging from the audiences reaction I would not necessarily say that it would be in that order. Amy explores these issues in the guise of several characters, thrusting herself deeply into each role, always in tune with who she is at that moment, delivering a satisfying performance which culminated in a standing O(vation).
With characters including a confused teenager, a Jewish grandmother who has discovered that sex doesn't end at 60, a southern rock and roll preacher who has…issues, and the all mighty, this extremely talented performer rips off the mask of polite society to give us all a peek at what lay beneath the carefully cultivated exterior. Oh, you want to know what's hidden? Go see the show, you'll be entertained…and enlightened too!
Amy has an amazing talent when it comes to slipping between characters. There are times in the show when the transformation takes place onstage right before our eyes, and a complete transformation it is. We believe she is the new character despite witnessing her in another guise mere seconds before and achieved with a minimal costume change. In spite of the diverse personalities of the characters Ms. Steinberg maintains a risqué element while eliciting laughter, sometimes even outright guffaws, from her audience.
Amy Steinberg's show is currently playing at the Cuillo Center for the Arts on Clematis Street. Go ahead, let your inner hussy/gigolo out to experience life through Ms. Steinberg's eyes; you're in for a unique, enjoyable evening. Who knows, you may just come away looking at some aspects of life through different colored glasses. I know the show opened my own already quite liberal eyes to scenic vistas not previously perceived…it could happen to you.
Editors Note: Amy is an irregular on Wednesday nights on WRPBradio's "Anything Bucket".
