I like certain blogs to remain displayed in a certain order at the top of my profile, so to keep them from disappearing or rotating, instead of starting a new blog for every subject, I just add things to this miscellaneous blog.

"close encounter"

I have a job at DFW airport.  About a month ago, I was standing next to a woman who was fiddling with her cell phone.  She asked me to help her cuz she didn't have her glasses or something.  When she looked through the numbers, I saw the name JOYCE MEYER.  I said, "You know Joyce Meyer??"  She not only didn't answer me, but she gave me a strange look, as if to say "You aren't supposed to know that."  It was a creepy moment.  Of course it could've just been a rude way of communicating "I'm sick of talking about how I know Joyce Meyers," but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Joyce and her pals operated like the mafia.  I don't trust her any further than I can throw her.

PERSECUTION

www.AFA.net :

"A few examples of unconstitutional censorship of school children in Texas include:
Reprimands for talking about Jesus during Easter;
a ban on children wishing deployed troops a Merry Christmas;
children forbidden from using religious messages on gifts or cards...;
children forbidden from bringing Christmas items to a school's 'Winter Party' despite the acknowledgment of other faiths during the season;
children threatened by Superintendent that if they prayed they would be 'disciplined the same as if they had cursed';
teacher trashing two Bibles belonging to students, taking the students to the principal's office and threatening to call Child Protective Services on the parents for letting their children bring Bibles to school."

"they won't take it"

I have a sack of audio cassettes with Bob Barefoot's coral calcium infomercials on them.  I want to give them away before they disintigrate.  Last night, I left one on the counter at work with a sign on it that said "FREE AUDIO CASSETTE - CURE FOR CANCER".  It sat there in plain sight for about 3 hours and nobody took it.  Then my supervisor discovered it.  He took one look at it, scoffed it, and threw it in the trash can.  My fellow Americans, that is called INSANITY.  If you don't know why, you are also insane.  It's been said that America is "an insane asylum run by the inmates".  That is so true.  Do some experiments.  Walk up to a dying cancer patient and say "There's a cure for cancer ya know."  If they don't become bug-eyed, grab your arm, and beg you to tell them what it is, THEY ARE INSANE!  I guarantee you they won't.  They'll sit there expressionless and say "yuh-huh".  That's not a "healthy distrust"; that's just plain stupid.  When you and millions of other people are dying, it doesn't matter how small the chances are of it being true, you should persue every claim.
Did God influence me to blog this?  Cuz it just occured to me that this is an analogy for people not taking the free gift of salvation.  (Romans 5:15-16, 6:23, Ephesians 2:8)

"God takes care of his own"

There was some software I wanted mainly for evangelical uses.  I reluctantly bought it for $102.  The next day, I got $102 in tips at work.

I've found that the less stingy I am when rounding up my tithe money, the more tips I get!  (But don't think God is running some kind of casino; it's gotta be sincere!)

"radio people"

During the long drive to and from work everyday, I listen to AM radio Fox-News-types.  During the annoying commercials, I switch to FM radio, and recently, the Kidd Kraddick show caught my attention.  It's a "casual" show with a guy ("Kidd"), another guy, and a woman named Kellie who have ridiculous conversations and gossip about celebrities.  Though they are childish and ignorant in many ways, they seemed to have a sincerity and honesty about them which was refreshing compared to the seemingly scripted newscasters I'm so used to on TV.  That, and the occasional current events discussed during the show kept me listening.
One day, Kellie angrily scoffed James Cameron's anti-Jesus documentary and confessed belief in Jesus' resurrection and bodily ascension, which she had to explain to clueless Kidd.  I never would have expected such a strong defense of Christianity from her.  It was very touching.  That infantile ditz did more for Jesus Christ in 60 seconds than the so-called "conservative" talk-show hosts did in 3 years.  (They only talk about Christianity when they're telling you to compromise on it.)  According to Romans 10:9, Kellie's saved, which is more than I can say for most radio personalities that claim to be "Christian".  Probably a lot of sermons to get out of this, but most obvious lesson I got is: don't trust the category people put themselves in (especially when their income depends on it).

"blind leading the blind... literally!"

The title is not referring to me, but to whoever influenced the blind woman I met today at work at the airport. I helped her get from the ticket counter thru security to the train and to her gate. At one point she said that there's nothing wrong with being gay, so I assumed she wasn't a Christian. She was a very rude, condescending, cowardly, spoiled brat. And being blind is no excuse. A month or two ago, I helped a blind man who was the exact opposite - kind, respectful, understanding, humble, helpful, and not fearful of common obstacles faced by blind people (had I not been there, he probably could've found his way himself eventually!). And right before I left him, I found out he was a Christian. (Surpise, surprise!) Obvious illustration of the fruit of the Spirit. And as if to confirm to me my conclusions and reassure me, I met another woman today in a wheelchair who was very kind and not a spoiled "the customer is always right" type, and then I noticed a cross around her neck! Either God is talking to me a lot at work, or I'm just reading too much into things out of bordom. I hope it's God, cuz I always hated feeling like my prayers were "one-sided converstations." Maybe God has been talking to me all along and I've just been mistaking his answers for my own spontaneous thoughts. If so, shame on me.

"FOX NEWS CHANNEL"

The Fox News channel is or was seen by many (including me) as a refuge for conservatives, Christians, and republicans to get unbiased news; a sort of "anti-CNN". But after watching it for 5 years (and also lots of CNN at the airport where I work cuz it's the only channel there), I've come to the conclusion that Fox News is just as dangerous as CNN and should not a trusted source of information.

Greta Van Sustern, host of On The Record - big fan of admittedly demon-possessed rocker Ozzy Osbourne.

Neil Cavuto, host of Your World - CATHOLIC

Bill O'Reilly, host of O'Reilly Factor - CATHOLIC
"The Old Testament is allegorical..."
"Clear-thinking people know evolution is true, because the scientists know what the missing links looked like and all of that..."

2005?:
Fox Report with Shepard Smith:
Pro-evolution new fossil "evidence" stated as fact, not challenged.

2006?:
News Watch:
"Conservative" panelist defends corrupt drug-companies; calls drugs "life-saving". Another "conservative" panelist scoffs "extreme" conspiracy theories about communists.

2006?:
Special Report with Brit Hume:
Frequent panelist Charles Krauthammer indignantly declares "Creationism is not science." Neither the host, nor the other panelists argued against him.

2006?:
The Beltway Boys:
Fred Barnes the "conservative" makes comment showing he is totally ignorant about creationism and doesn't believe it. "...the creationists think the earth was created 4000 years ago or something..."

late 2006 or early 2007?:
The Line Up

Host indignantly interrupted, shouted at, and denounced a King-James-Bible-believing woman for her church's "offensive" and "bigoted" protests. Host also defended homosexuals and expressed disgust at the woman's use of a homosexual slur. Host even quoted fake bible in an attempt to prove a point.

May 31, 2007:
Hannity & Colmes:

anti-mormon man and 9/11-widow labeled "CAMPAIGN CRAZIES"

The widow of a firefighter killed on 9/11 asked Rudy Guiliani about his contradictory statements on his foreknowledge of the WTC buildings' collapse. They didn't play the entire clip, and the parts they did play were muted most of the time. In the unedited clip (which could be seen on YouTube.com), the sincerity of the woman, the legitmacy of her questions, and Rudy's suspicious reaction were much more apparent.

Mormon candidate Mitt Romney doing photo-op meet-and-greet runs into an old man who says he'll never vote for a mormon. Sean Hannity actually compliments Romney, saying he reacted with "grace". Message was there's nothing wrong with being mormon and anti-mormons are crazy "bigots".

Hannity & Colmes is supposedly for debate between opposites, yet when any subject considered "extreme" comes up, suddenly the hosts are on the same side and tag-teaming their guest in obvious attempts to distract, distort, and suppress.

I've lost count of all the examples of bias I've seen.

FoxNews' slogan "fair and balanced" becomes more of a joke everyday. Every title, every subtitle, every adjective, every intro, every commentary is used to slant the story and define a prearranged "winner" on every issue. They don't need to be "balanced", but for them to keep saying they are proves they're liars and propagandists.
