I live in Eugene Oregon. I also aspire to attend the University of Oregon for my Jr and Sr years of college starting fall of 2010. So let me explain some things about Oregon Duck's fans: they are loyal to their team, they are dedicated to the sports of the school and they have the reputation of being angry, mean and intimidating to the opposing teams.

Seriously, we have had riots in the streets after a bad sporting day for the Ducks. Feel free to google "Eugene Riots" and you'll see just how out of control the locals get when their team loses. The locals know to stay home if game day produces a loss, because going out can be one big confrontation, be it road rage, or bad attitudes at the grocery store or just general unpleasantness from obsessed fans. Grown men weep publicly when the Ducks lose (I'm not Kidding!).

So, seeing something like this happen yesterday comes as little surprise to the locals:

go ducks...yay?

So, let me see if I have this right, kid who throws the punch on the Boise player has already been suspended for behavorial issues and is allowed to continue to play?  Dan says if this is the story he's thinking of out of yesterday, the player was suspended for the remainder of the season.  Had this been a player in the NFL, fines would have been associated with a suspension.  That's just bad sportsmanship when you can't even control your temper over a game.  The odds of that kid getting serious consideration for the NFL has dwindled in my opinion....no professional team wants to deal with a disciplinary case in a rookie season.  If I were the coach of the Ducks, that kid would not be allowed to play on my team again - no three strikes and you're out, two is too many.

I remember you telling me about OSU fans when we were in Vegas and how obsessed they are.  Crazy stuff right there.

OSU are the Beavers from Corvallis Oregon.

The coach is actually very sympathetic to Blount over this incident. He thinks the punishment is too harsh, and that everyone is over reacting. I guess in a town where police cars are vandalized in a riot after a losing game, Blount's behavior seems down right tame.

Which only goes to show that I know nothing of the Oregon colleges....would not have made that mistake with Washington colleges.
