This band existed in various forms and names before The Demonstration "officially" was born and the event that marked the creation of this band 4 years ago was the addition of our bassist Josh Coe. When Josh joined the band we named the project The Demonstration and started over, therefore he is one of three original members of the band, along with David and Peter. Well, as of yesterday (10/21/2009) we are now down to two original members. Josh got a great offer to go play in a blues band called Delta Highway in Memphis. They have a rigorous schedule and play 24 gigs a month in Memphis, so needless to say he's gonna have to relocate to pursue the project. Josh is a bassist at heart and genres are meaningless to him. Before he started playing metal with us he was in jam and jazz bands, and now he's moving on to play the blues. Of course there are no hard feelings and we wish him the best in Memphis. Josh will always be our best friend and we will always play music together in some fashion. It's just not gonna be the same without him. However, the rest of the band has decided to continue on our own path. We recently began writing our third full-length which we will continue to work on until the summer when we plan on recording. Josh's departure isn't going to affect the writing process, sound or direction of the new record, however we are gonna definitely miss his stage presence, dedication, and all the hilarity and entertainment that he provided everyone on tour. So as for us, we'll be continuing on writing the record as a four piece and when the time comes to start playing show again and start scheduling tours for the summer, we will hire the proper bassist. There's really no rush there. October 30th will be Josh's last show ever with The Demonstration at The Raven in Burlington NC, so please don't miss this show. We will keep you updated on everything else soon.
Thanks!
*UPDATE-BASS AUDITIONS**
As we've said before, we're in no rush to find a new bassist and we actually have some friends who have already stepped up willing to fill in or join full time as needed, but we've gotten some interesting messages this week from people who want to try out for the position who say they already know our songs and such so we decided to give the public a shot. Instead of just filling the position with another bassist who can learn the riffs and headbang, we thought we'd see if there isn't somebody out there who can actually help us step it up a noche and better the band. The best way to do this would be to find somebody who can CLEAN SING and play the bass well. We have a good amount of clean vocals/choruses on the last record that our old guitarist recorded and handled live. And even though Zack does a good job handling all the vocal duties live, it would be nice to have another voice in the mix and it would be even better if we could find somebody who was creative and could help in both the riff writing and melody/hook writing. Even though our new record is sounding heavier than our last and Zack can handle writing and singing hooks, it would still be nice to have the freedom to incorporate another voice in the mix. So, if you think you'd be interested in trying out to play bass in the band, feel free to hit us up and post videos of yourself displaying your talents. You don't have to be able to sing or scream to try out, it would be a nice added bonus and we wanted to see what kind of talent is out there before we just ask one of our friends to learn the riffs and headbang with us.
SO IF YOU"RE INTERESTED IN GIVING IT A SHOT:
*post videos of yourself playing any of our songs
*if you can sing, post videos of yourself playing and singing our songs
*post videos of yourself playing your own original songs on the bass or guitar
*post videos of yourself singing your own original songs
Any or all of the above will be appreciated and they will all be taken into consideration.
Email us at thedemonstration@Hotmail.com for more information and make sure that if you do decide to try out that you provide us with some personal information. (age, gear, transportation, location, experience writing, recording and touring, influences, availability, etc)
We are not exactly a "full-time" band at the moment, as we are at home in North Carolina working on the new album, touring plans will come later, but for now writing is the priority.
Also, one last thing to mention...Whoever plays the bass in The Demonstration will most likely be expected to play bass in the annual summer killwhitneydead tours that the bands do together, meaning you would be pulling double duty in the summer time with the rest of us playing both the demonstration and killwhitneydead sets every night, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there...for now if you want to try out just follow the above requests.
Thanks a lot and have fun!
