Last week me and the Anime Group I joined went to the Maid Cafe. It took us a sec to find cause it was in a mobile home park. The cafe kids don't have a store/restaurant of their own yet so I guess they rent random places here and there. So it was like the parks rec room. Decently sized though. They had a nice set up with a laptop, speakers, and a projection machine that used one of the walls to show anime on. They pretty much just showed AMV's and people just listened to the music rather than really focused on the videos. Then they had the tables, which only sat two at a time. That has it's pros and cons. There were some couches and a book shelf full of quite a number of manga books. Then was the lil' kitchen they worked in and another room that took me a bit to realize it was open for us to go in. Heh. It was a game room. They had 2 TV's and at the moment one had Mario Kart and the other Rockband. I wanted to play Rockband but these kids who played on Expert wouldn't get off. They switched the games later and even had tiny tournaments. We paid to get in and that included one soup/salad, one entree, one drink and one dessert. After that you had to pay but everything was like two bucks. I got miso soup, beef curry, and a chocolate bear cake (aww). You also got one free game. And these are board games. People need good non-electric fun like that now-a-days, but gawd, I sucked at them! I lost each time. We played this one where it's a tray full of colored balls and you need to pick up your assigned color with a magnet. But the tray spins. Yep. Could only pick up 2 before someone else had all their..balls. XD The maids, and hosts, did the serving of course but also put on performances now and then. Oh! The subject, "Jan-ken-po" is Japanese Rock, Paper, Scissors. Some of the maids brought people up to the stage and played. Lindsey my new buddy won! Yay! The prize was a pic with the maids. *shrugs* All in all, it was pretty good. I did have a good time. And you can see they put lots of work into it. I just think they need to learn to serve a bit more professionally, such as not walking as slow as you can while holding one drink on a tray using both hands. *eyebrow twitch* And all over their website is "master" we'll call you "master" or whatever name you desire. And I didn't hear anyone say it even once while I was there. Other than that, kudos.
