Wizard World LA has a tough challenge. They’re a smaller convention sandwiched between two dinosaurs, Wondercon and the monster of all, ComicCon. The past two years I’ve attended I’ve experienced a small, intimate crowd and an array of friendly open booths with industry professionals eager to show off their work or sign their latest piece. I never found it difficult to approach tables, however this year the crowds amassed and Wizard World LA was a mess. Some how Wizard Magazine managed to throw together a tight convention fueled by multiple media appearances. Title attendee Summer Glau from TV’s "Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles" had lines wrapping around the entire convention floor all day. Stars Milo Ventimiglia ("Heroes") and Alyssa Milano ("Charmed") also made appearances at panels as well as the Golden Apple Book (where you’ll often find me shopping on new comic day). These three along with the usual heavy hitters, Jeph Loeb, Tim Sale, Michael Silvestri, Michael Turner and many many others brought everyone out of their homes on such a chilly, rainy day in LA.
