Hey there. This is Nick. This blog is just me going off about the past, and the future. So my first band was with a jesus freak, and a turbo stoner in a garage off of the I5-Haines st. exit in Portland. I was 13, and we only played one song. A doors cover called.....shit I don't even know what it was called. All I remember is, "keep your eyes on the road, and your hands upon the wheel". Ya. I think thats how it went. I did guitar, and vocals.

Since then I have played in over 30 bands, organized most of them, and watched them all crumble. Jail, jesus, drugs, chicks, africa, butt heads, and flakes. I have seen it all.

The weird thing is that, in my experience, the people with the least amount of musical knowledge always have the strongest opinions about band direction, and image.

To me it says something about what the idea of a rock band is all about. What I have learned is that when musical inclination lacks, theatrics, and image concerns come in to play. Where as, when one is truly concerned about the music alone, image, and direction rank very low on the list of band priorities.

What is my point? It is hard to break the ice. For example, how can you get people to pay attention to new sounds? We are not talking about any visual stimulation here, so when it came time to introduce rock, and roll to the public a few average looking guys were not going to cut it. Hense, we had Black Sabbath with the hair, and the scene behind it in order to get our attention. Well we got it. And now rock, and metal has a "soul". Or, a place in our emotions where we can now recognize the beauty of rock music compositions without our eyes.
