UPDATE April 1, 2009 3:45PM
As I perceive it:
Look at all the white folk:
Westminster Canterbury = Whites Only.
This is the retirement community in Lynchburg that is for "Whites Only" run by the Christian Groups known as Presbyterian and Episcopal.
I have repeatedly been discriminated against by both residents and staff relative to my sexual orientation while I visited my mother for dinner several times a week. I asked them to stop, giving specific incidents, and the Executive Vice President Dennis Dean, now say they are Christian and don't do that.
Meaning they don't condone gay people visiting their mother's without them being a fair target for bullying by staff members, one who was offended that I ask him to model for me, after he came onto to me numerous times - two months ago.
Two months ago, I asked the Security Guard, Art Weaver (I believe his name is) for his suggestions, and he suggested talking to Chanté, which I did. She said she would speak to the offending party, and get him to stop his behaviour, saying my request should have been considered a compliment. I asked that he simply reply "No ThankYou" and move on ... I have moved on.
He didn't do that because he is a Christian, says VP Dennis Deane. Basically telling me I'm a liar because he is a Christian.
This isn't just about the young man's actions ... its about the upper management not doing anything to stop him, until it had repeatedly annoyed me into rage. Its about upper management saying what he allegedly did wasn't offensive: glaring me down with friends he had called over to his side, running around to other servers, asking them if they were ok, as I tried to pick up my meals. Eventually, several other servers started turning their heads down and away as I continued to simply say hello.
According to VP Dennis Dean, I'm the one who was offensive, asking him to model for me ... he's a Christian and doesn't do things "like that".
What else should I expect from a White's Only Retirement Community?
Nancy Meimes, the white female in mid-management position who, when I asked her for a solution, complained to me she knew what being discriminated against was like ... she wasn't being paid what a man in her position would be paid, nor would she be promoted as a man would ... she "knows" what being discriminated against is like ... if that helps my situation any.
How "manly" the Executive VP Dennis Deane and President Cary must think they are.
They have people of color there ... but only in the Assisted Living. Sick black people. None in Independent Living. Worker's are black people ... what about upper management and the Board of Directors?
That makes it "Whites Only".
Christians don't do things to belittle people because they are Christian, says VP Dennis Deane.
Whites Only, also allowing bullying a gay person, Cafe Management Employee (loud, intimidating black woman) chasing a white man down the hall yelling she was going to marry him, embarrassing him, making my 91 year old Mother jump out of the way to keep from being knocked down.
They don't do this kind of thing because they are Christian.
And I'm a liar?
And then there's the Entertainment Director Katrina, who, several years ago, after talking to a member of the Unitarian Church, introduced me to a large audience there on "The Bridge", as someone who was known as one who liked to play with himself in public (a rumor from my days at the YMCA), while I prepared to give a solo Euphonium Recital, using my programmable Yamaha motif es8 as accompaniment.
Someone who "plays with himself in public", a rumor propagated by a married man from the Unitarian Church who wanted to have sex with me at the Y, but I wouldn't. Still a Resident of the Whites Only Westminister Canterbury. Short, fat, going deaf, man, and his wife, tall skinny gray haired photographer. A rumor used to try to destroy my reputation & spirit when I was bullied at the Y and stood up for myself, when a policeman shook his penis and testicles at me in the showers, several times, now used by the Westminster Canterbury Entertainment Director to introduce me at my Recital.
No, I'm not the liar ... not to myself, not to a spouse or anyone else for that matter.
Westminster Canterbury:
Episcopal, Presbyterian
Whites Only
Homophobes
Slanderers
Biggots
Self-acclaimed Christians.
