Day 840 (10/15/09) Guy Fieri Rules!!!!!!!

Today is pay day…sweet!

The morning started off with a debate regarding the definition of rape….all because of this story:

"So You Think You Can Dance" judge MARY MURPHY has revealed that she was once in an abusive relationship . . . in which she was RAPED and BEATEN. She tells "Us" magazine that her ex-husband, whose name wasn't published, first became abusive just three months after they were married. She explains, quote, "We'd had another jealous fight, screaming, crashing over furniture, and he said, 'I want to have sex.'  I was like, 'Are you kidding me?!  We're fighting here!'  He said, 'You're my wife, and you'll do what I tell you!'  I pulled out a kitchen knife and screamed, 'You're going to have to stab me, because I'm not having sex with you!'  He knocked it out of my hands, held me down and raped me." But sadly, that was just the beginning of a tragic pattern.  Mary says, quote, "A fight, then rape, then presents . . . a dress, a diamond bracelet, earrings.  In the first year or two, I'd fight back, but eventually, I'd just lie there.  Get it over with, I thought.  It'll be quick anyway." At one point, she got pregnant, but she lost the baby. She says, quote, "In my fourth month, I miscarried.  My husband was disgusted, saying I murdered our baby, because I'd done some light dancing the night before.  I was sinking deeper and deeper at that point, just reeling into despair." Mary kept the abuse to herself . . . and remained married to him for NINE YEARS. She says, quote, "I'd have black eyes and bruises.  But I never called the police or went to the hospital.  I didn't want anybody to know." Finally, she found a way out.  In 1985, she found out that her husband . . . who she says was from a "wealthy, prominent family in the Middle East" . . . had proposed to another woman on one of his trips back home. She says, quote, "This is what motivated me to leave him.  I faced him one more time to sign the papers, and then I never heard from him again." For the record, "Us" says Mary's ex-husband is denying all this . . . saying that her claims are, quote, "flat-out lies."

Thanks to Dave Attell for joining us this morning…he is one funny dude.  Dave is at the Moore Theater on January 16th…tix are on sale through www.livenation.com

This morning we had a great chat with Guy Fieri from the Food Network – he called in to talk about the first ever Guy Fieri Roadshow -- It is food, rock n' roll, and "everything they won't let me do on TV!"  which is coming to the Moore 12/11 – get tix HERE.  We also chatted about his show  “Diners, Drive In’s, and Dives” on the Food Network…the show has featured some great places  to eat in Seattle…Guy even said that Seattle is  the cornerstone for great local based food joints…so much so that him & his business partners have been traveling to Seattle with intentions of opening a place up here!!!!!  Here are a couple videos of local places that Guy spotlighted:

What I also love about Guy is that  he loves pretzels!!!!  Hell, he called me
his “brother from another mother” because of my love for pretzels as well.  He made & sold pretzels at the age of 10 & called it the “Awesome Pretzel.”  I had to share with him a story of my obsession one from a kid, and another as an adult.  When I was a kid I was kicked out of Elementary School one day because I called the lunch lady a “Mother F’er” (only I used the actual word) because she didn’t pick my table to get pretzels for lunch.  They actually had to call my mom and have her come get me…to be honest, I do think my mom found the humor in it because after that incident, in our freezer…it was always stoked with frozen soft pretzels.

Guy seemed like a great dude…I can’t wait for him to come to town.  Go to www.guyfieri.com

I just got this email, and the timing couldn't be better as I am updating the blog as I got it...if you can help out a fan of the show, that would rock!

Hello STP,

My name is Chris Austin and I am the Team Manager for Retro Cycle Worx Racing, I was hoping you could post our proposal on your blog or the web.

We are looking to develop a National level BMX racing team and looking for local sponsors to help. We will be recruiting riders that participate in local races, state and national events to include the Washington State Championship, Redline cup, ABA Nationals across the US, and Canadian Nationals.

The top 5 sponsors who offer the most assistance will have your company logo added to our team racing jerseys for the 2010 racing season which will be worn by all members of the team, also your logo will be on our website and team banner displayed at every race we attend.

Your sponsorship will allow us to offer a great equipment to our current and new riders for the 2010 season and help assist us overcome the cost of jerseys as well as help our current and future riders to national events for the season with race fees and other needed products. The team promotes a drug free environment for its entire membership. They have a code of conduct that they must adhere to at all times to be on the team. Our promise to you is that we will represent ourselves in the utmost honorable and ethical manner by promoting our sponsors at every event both local and national.

If you would like to be a sponsor of this team or would like further information please contact us at the following:
