Top junk is an indie band formed in Luzon City in 2005. Members are Izel Sarangelo (vocals), Jerico Placido (bass), Dennis Leung (drums), and Tim Panganiban (guitar). The upbeat musical style of the band combines elements of punk rock, disco, pop, new wave and funk. Their songs mostly emphasize on straightforward everyday musings and their arrangements lend much to its vibrant uptempo beats.
The band wanted a name that would apparently reflect the constant contradictions of life in general, from simple concerns to philosophical musings. Mostly, it's the bittersweet experience of life's incompatibility to be expressed in its truest nature that inspires the band to come up with an output that is worthwhile, unceremonious, and carefree.
A drug, a refuse, an outlet, refreshment, an emotion, top junk is rhetoric, catchy and silly.

An album in the works, containing 11 of their delightful litter is currently being cleaned up for a near future release. Top junk currently wrapped up a music video shoot from their upcoming single entitled 'cyber s.' – a rocking ode to the internet age, with it's subversive intimate theme, or otherwise.
The group uploaded their demos through various websites and made their music obtainable for free for an ever-growing fan base of junkies, porn stars, and whatnots, giving a nod to the old adage "One man's junk is another's treasure."

The band has enjoyed multiple exposure from the media ranging from radio airplay, TV guestings, publications and articles, to playing significant events and are ready to bring the indie ethos to a contemporary setting where modern music is readily available without cost. In a time where music is finding alternate ways to be purchased and where bands are to be found in stacks and oodles via the internet, Top junk is a band with a sincere certitude that original Filipino music doesn't expire in a mesh of rotten tradition. And if they do rot, they'd be on top of the heap.
