It has been quite a while since I posted a blog. But I was so moved after watching "The View" this morning (7-7-09). Elizabeth Hasslebeck  actually formed her mouth to say that there was too much coverage of Michael Jackson in the media, while there were wars and other events going on in the world.

These "events" that she spoke of were happening long before Jackson's death, and they will certainly continue to happen long after. Michael, through his music and posture, was a man who literally "changed" the attitudes in so many positive ways of the media, of the masses, of the globe: an accomplishment that I doubt Ms. Hasslebeck will match in her lifetime.

LET MICHAEL HAVE HIS MOMENT. LET THE PEOPLE WHO ADORED MICHAEL HAVE THEIR PRIVATE THOUGHTS AND MOMENTS WITH HIM, AND GRIEVE AND CELEBRATE AS THEY WISH. When you choose, on this day, to put Sarah Palin on a pedestal when "no one" knows what her next move will be, that is a real problem.....and whatever that move is, it certainly won't match the efforts of a Michael Jackson.

Elizabeth, sit back, relax, have your baby, and let the masses embrace Michael as they should. We can talk about your wars and other events tomorrow.

Well said Gerald...I felt the same way today...And when she told Rob Thomas that he was a close second to MJ...I was amazed that she actually said that!  She should think before she speaks.  (hehehe) all the time...not just today! Peace and Blessings to YOU :)

I agree. There is only one Michael Jackson. The war and other events have been here and been here. He deseves to have his momement. He was the King Of Pop!! We need to remember him as life will soon go on. She needs to realize that. People need to grieve for him. His family, his fans, especially his children. He was somebody special to a lot of people. It's only fair he gets his day to be remembered just who he really was. A man of many, many talents. A man who brought the Black race forward in many ways. A man who helped by giving to many charities. He gave more then we never knew. It started "We Are The World."  He was a selfless giver. He was misunderstood. It was important to have all of this shown about him. He was a wonderful humanitarian. At the end of the funeral when his daughter spoke, it showed he was a wonderful father.

I TOTALLY agree with you Gerald.  I live in Alaska and as you can figure, I'm SICK of hearing about Sarah Palin!  Michael Jackson broke down many barriers and made it possible for people of color to be more accepted by the 'mainstream'.  His accomplishments, his kindness, his generosity, and the admiration of him by people all over the world could NEVER be matched.  I grew up listening to the Jackson 5 and Michael.  Ms. Hasslebeck, as with many other 'conservatives', as they call themselves, has nothing but negative to say about the passing of a this great human being. Not once have they mentioned his being in the Guinness Book of World Record as being the biggest pop culture icon who has donated to the most charities.  Can Ms. Hasslebeck or anyone like her match that?  I don't think so.  This man was all about peace.  Then again, if there was peace, then the pundants would'nt have anythng else to discuss.  I ask that anyone who has read this to please pray for Michael's children, his family, his friends, and anyone who was touched by this great man.  I never respond to blogs, but after reading this one, I had to have my say.  I apologize for rambling and I thank you all for reading.
