Well it hardly seems as though another month has ticked by, but if I'm sitting here pondering what to write for my next instalment then it must be so…I hope that you've all recovered from being stuffed full fois-gras style by your families over Easter. I certainly haven't, but you'll be pleased to know that I'm starting the cork diet as of tomorrow. It involves me walking around with a large mouth sized cork in my mouth not letting anything that once thought or moved in through my pie hole. I don't suppose sugar ever thought though...

So I suppose then my new monthly motto for April is quite simple – I'll be keeping it short but sweet.

WOMAD

Filthy feet, Moreton Bay Figs, and outdoor dressing room, a thousand lovely listeners, hippies, children of hippies, mothers of hippies, all sorts of hippies. If you haven't guessed yet I'm referring to WOMADelaide which was by far one of the most amazing shows I've ever played. The Brides and I were astounded by the response of the audience. We were moved beyond words by the respect that we were shown, especially given that we're very new to the WOMAD music scene. Thanks to all who showed their support, including the sound and production crew, and you the lovely audience x x x

BRIDES FINALLY DOWN THE AISLE!
SUNDAY 22nd APRIL

My Brides are leaving me at the Altar!! Steve, Mel and Zac are off on a big adventure in a very retro MotorHome around Australia to play music with their original band Highway 31. So to commemorate this happy-for-them-but-sad-for-Brian-and-I occasion we're having a massive send off at nowhere else but the Church of Trinity. Yes we're playing in a church. Not certain whether I'll burn to cinders at the door but if I make it through its bound to be a fantabulous show. The beautiful Emily Smart will also be delighting you with her heavenly voice so please come along for a spiritual folk country rock experience and give the Brides the send off they deserve.

Cost: $12conc, $15 adult
Bookings: Dramatix - (08) 7421 2306

MELBOURNE TOUR

Melbournites be ready, I'm coming on over! It's time to peddle my wares in your lovely state. I'll be joined by local Melbourne songstress Sam Lohs (Fruit) who'll be splitting the bill with me throughout the week; and in a never seen or heard before phenomenon, special guests the Sunday Brides and I will be playing three rockin' shows at the end of the tour. Starting at the "Don't Tell Tom Bar" we'll be weaving our way down the coast and ending up in Warnambool (see website for details). Can't wait to see you all again!

KRISTINA OLSEN

I had the awesome opportunity to play a show at the Folk Centre (a marvellous live music venue in Thebarton) with the legendary blues folk singer Kristina Olsen. After I recovered from the shock of seeing a front row table of my old law lecturers who had come to see Kristina, I belted out a few tunes to warm the crowd up for her. The highlight however was being able to be part of her audience. I was so amazed at her beautiful and powerful songs, her hilarious between-song banter and her warmth backstage. I'd like to thank her for being so kind as to let me share the stage with her, and also to Barbara Wogen-Provo from the Folk Centre for organising the show.

ALBUM SALES & WEBSITE UPDATE

Still haven't purchased that elusive Emily Davis debut album yet? Want to buy your mum a truly unique mother's day present? Want to remain friends with me long into the future? Why not purchase a copy of "Moving in Slow Motion" my debut album. You can visit my website with its new ONLINE STORE (and you can see the lovely Rachel modelling the merch too) and purchase all the Emily Davis paraphernalia that you've ever dreamed of.

Also check out the new website format. It's got some dazzling new photos in the gallery, bios of the band, and all my behind the scenes stuff too. Thanks to Nathan and Abby who have worked very hard to make it look so good.

FAREWELL AB

There's also a little sadness this month. My dedicated manager Abby Edwards is re-locating to Melbourne to start a new life with her lovely partner and shake things up with Onya Soapbox in Melb. She's still my manager but we'll be reverting to the phone and email more often than not now that she's leaving. Abby thanks so much for you hard work, motivation and support. I'll miss you very much, but I wish you the best of luck and prosperity in Melbourne.

So that's it for now, see you at a show soon!
