Happy salutations dear creatures. Yes another month has ticked by, and we're heading fast forward into a beautifully chilly winter. (My favourite!!) Not because I'm an ice queen, but more because the notion of rugging up, soup, windscreen wipers and wool seem to appeal to me much more than the cursed sweat patches of summer. Of course there are some symptoms of winter that I don't admire and they typically include constantly wet washing and the flu; but I figure its a small price to pay to stop sweating profusely. Anyway I am rambling quite a bit now about the weather (how terrible). How about i tell you some new music news.

FAREWELL THE BRIDES

We had a beautiful send off for the Brides at the Church of Trinity, Sun April 22. After we overcame the initial anxieties of combining rock with God, we were treated with a beautiful reception from a very respectful audience. Ms Emily Smart and her trio did an amazing job - singing her gorgeous voice high above the rafters. The show itself was quite an emotional one, and everyone pulled out all the stops to mark this gig as one of the most intensely beautiful that I've ever been part of. The only sign from God (coincidentally timed after a song with the f word in it) occurred when my high heel slipped through a hole on stage. A few giggles and another pair of hands, (thanks Zac) and I was out of trouble. I'm sure it looked hilarious from the crowd. A special thanks must go to Roger and Yvonne who run the sessions, and who are so generous and obliging. Thanks to all of you who came; and to those who didn't,you've only missed out for now, because I can't wait to play there again.

HELLO DAN

Well it won't be long before I truly farewell the Sunday Brides (we've got some shows in Melbourne that I'll tell you all about later), but I've been a very busy girl and have welcomed a very new musician to my ensemble. The fabulous Brian is still here, playing bass and singing soulful backing vocals, but I'd like to introduce you to Dan Ryan my new drummer. Dan's started jamming with us and he'll be having his debut gig on Saturday the 12th of May at the Wheatsheaf. Here are some things you probably didn't know about Dan.....

1. He's a nice guy who's studying to become a music teacher.
2. He has a real sweet tooth, so feel free to throw him chocolate or fairy floss on stage.
3. He's a real sweet tooth.

As we've only recently met, my in depth knowledge of his psyche is somewhat 'in progress' so as the newsletters flow by I'll be sure to keep you updated on anything worth reporting. So welcome Dan, I look forward to playing some tunes with you on stage.

BIRTHDAY GIG-O-RAMA - SAT MAY 12

As is the yearly tradition, I have been known to host a show on my birthday. And this year is no different. Saturday May 12 is set to be a wonderful night. Not only because we're having Dan's initiation, but also because we're sharing the bill with my favourite Adelaide band Suite. The music starts around 8:30pm so come on down for a delightful evening. (I may even wear heels again if you're lucky) Free entry, the only thing it may cost is a birthday drink for me. How cheap!

VICTORIAN TOUR

Hello Victorian friends and family. Finally I'm returning to your lovely state for a bit of touring action. I'll be heading over for some solo shows beginning the 19th of May, featuring the lovely Sam Lohs (Fruit). However, the most exciting part of the tour is the fact that I'm bringing my full band, The Sunday Brides over for three fabulous shows.

Our First show is in Melbourne at the gorgeous "Don't Tell Tom" Bar. This is our album launch in Melbourne so its going to be a big night. (I suggest you book tickets early just in case…)

Lastly we're heading back to the Bool. I'm looking forward to seeing the super friendly locals of Warrnambool again. I had such a ball there last time that I simply couldn't do another Victorian tour without having the finale there. We'll be doing it up at the Loft, so we hope to see you there!
