There's something special about piling into an oversized van, with a mess of guitar amps, floor toms and enough pistachios to get you through a nuclear holocaust. Throw in four lovely brides, a winery, a seaside hideaway, mulled wine, packets of guitar strings and a place called "Don't Tell Tom" and you've got yourself one Emily Davis and the Sunday Brides Victorian Tour.
While I'm glad to be home, tending to my newly sprung succulent collection, I must say there's something so magical about going away on tour, that its worth being a musician just for that part alone. The trouble of course with nostalgia is its terribly romantic. I've been back two weeks and I've already forgotten about the not so nice parts, including U-turns (I kept it under 30) and freezing early mornings, the anxiety of not knowing if anyone will turn up to your show, the TV in the hotel pool…… anyhow, it was a fantastic experience and I'm very much looking forward to getting back on the road again soon.

I had the luxury of being supported (in more than just a musical sense too) by the delightful Sam Lohs from Fruit fame. She imparted many years of knowledge, navigated the minibus with ease and was such an incredibly impressive performer I urge you all to go see her show on Saturday June 30 at the Wheatsheaf Hotel. She'll be joined by the very spunky Mel Watson (also from Fruit) for a high-energy musical reunion that's bound to pack a punch. Sam, thanks for your generosity and humour! Thanks also to the venue operators, sound dudes, people that gave us directions, people that lent us equipment and a place to stay, and of course people that came along, listened , bought a CD and supported us. X

JULY 28th @ THE JADE MONKEY (ADELAIDE)

Be prepared for the biggest, warmest winter spectacular Saturday July 28th. My new band have been working on some new songs, (that's right, new songs) and we're really really looking forward to you coming along. If your attendance to my shows has been questionable, then never fear. This is your one opportunity to make it up to me.

For those of you unconvinced allow me to expand on the benefits of coming to my Jade Monkey Show.

You will have an excellent time listening to brand spanking new songs!
I will only have lovely thoughts and kind words to say about you.
If you're a non-smoker the Jade Monkey is a smoke free venue. (No more "stinky hair" excuses for not going out)
You can tell your friends at work that you went out on a bender instead of staying at home by the heater.
You'll be using someone else's heater for most of the night.
You may or may not have a life changing experience.
*NB note disclaimer
Most of all, I'm asking nicely for support because winter is a hard month for a musician. The cold winds blow gigs away with them and Adelaide has a terrible habit of locking itself away when it gets nippy. When I'm finished playing barefoot in the snow, with my eleven brothers and sisters on my back I– sorry (digression is a curse) Basically everyone wins. We want you to have warm hearts and toes, to shake away any cases of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and basically to consume excess alcohol under the guise of a "cultured musical event." (because that's what we'll be doing)
Come along and see Suite, Declan Kelly (all the way from Sydney!), and me and the Brides.

Tickets are (only) $10 at the door and I really, really, really think its in your best interests to come along.

NEW SONGS ON TRIPLE J UNEARTHED

If you happen to head to the Triple J Unearthed Site log on to my profile and review me! We've put the album tracks up on the site (instead of the scratchy demo versions!). I would totally love you to swing past and give us five mins of your time and a quick smart review.

Here's the link: Triple J Unearthed
