Scott Walker to Produce Live Tilt/Drift Shows

Though he's not performing

Scott Walker to Produce Live Tilt/Drift Shows

Scott Walker, you tease. On November 13-15, London's Barbican will host a series of live performances of the works of the American songwriter/experimental music icon, with a particular emphasis on his more recent, more avant garde works Tilt and The Drift. Fittingly, the performance series is called Drifting and Tilting: The Songs of Scott Walker.

Scott's band will be there, as will an orchestra and a number of vocalists. But despite producing the whole affair, the notoriously stage-shy Walker will not-- I repeat, will not-- be performing at the event.

What, you're just gonna sit there and watch other people play your songs, Scott Walker? You badass.

But... But... But... How's it going to work unless it's Scotty singing? It's not as if he has the most generic 'everyman' of voices, is it!!! Are we to expect Jarvis Cocker doing Jesse? Nick Cave emoting A Lover Loves? Actually... that sounds like good entertainment!!! I'm there!!!

I agree. Let "our baby" sing it. Come on Scottie, or do it somewhere else (where we can bring our dogs too). (You and me). LOVE!

Tell Scott to suck it up! i do, "I'm notoriously stage shy", and I'd look dumb with sunglasses on stage. Sorry, aint had my coffee yet. I heard about this last week... it's not like the concert is coming to Seattle though... but I would be pleased to go.

Seth DW - This is the "World premiere live performances of songs from Scott Walker's seminal works including Tilt and Drift."

So you never know, you may get to see it in Seattle.

I'm going because I'm curious as to how "The Drift" will sound, live. Especially after Stephen Kijak asked Scott if he could, "recreate it in a way that could be mobile or portable?" For Scott to answer, "I can't imagine how we would do it.... I mean....I can't."

Well he can...because he is. :)

I'm just pleased that Scott is actually giving his fans a chance to support his work in this way.

Hi Polly. It's just that no great act I ever want to see ecer comes to seattle, too "out of the way" believe it or not... we are used to it. I'd go to Portland OR. to see this though.

Well, Scott did promise us that he would be touring with these albums, but we didn't quite expect it to be in this way ! However, it is giving us (his fans) a chance to support his work, and I am sure it will be an amazing evening.

I shall definitely be there.

I'd want more details of this show before booking a ticket. I mean if he's not actually performing won't be like a Scott Walker tribute act?

Okay, I've given in and just bought my ticket. Couldn't really resist it. Just a shame Scott won't actually be singing but its the closest I'm ever going to get.
