Hello. My name is Ebony Farashuu and I represent Sisters Sippin’ Tea Literary Group – Tulsa Chapter, Inc. Sisters Sippin' Tea is a not-for –profit group dedicated to promoting literacy in the African-American community.
On Saturday, October 10, 2009, Tulsa Sisters Sippin’ Tea Literary Group, will host its Fifth Annual Fall Books and Brunch” at the Crowne Plaza Hotel located at 100 E 2nd Street from 10:00 - 1:30 PM. The Fall Books and Brunch has grown every year and has become a tradition in the Tulsa community.
In order to make this event a success we are asking for book donations to be handed out as door prizes during our event. By donating your books, your work will be placed in the hands of an avid reader. This will result in exposure for the donating author as well as helping our cause. We would also like the opportunity to place your promotional material in our giveaway bags. If you have book marks, pens, business cards, or postcards that you would like to donate, please send them to us no later than Wednesday, October 2, 2009.
Each year, the profits from this event are used towards a main donation goal, with the rest channeled back into the organization to fund our various community service projects. Last year, in conjunction with our Fall Books and Brunch, we were able to award a Scholarship in the amount of $1000.00, to a graduating high school Senior in the Tulsa Metro Area. This year, we hope to be ale to do the same; however the award is based on donations and ticket sales.
