The flight was seven hours late.

Seven hours late.

We, the good people of American Airlines flight 1624 were given a $10 voucher to "enjoy a complimentary dinner. On us." And, "no, there aren't any In-N-Outs in the airport, we're sorry."

People (including myself) were largely unphased. We all kinda half-cursed under our breaths and just waited.

And waited.

I finished half a book, so it wasn't a huge loss.

The voucher bought me two Odwalla Superfood Green drinks. $10 for two of 'um. Oh well.

They were good and when I got on the plane, I was the only one in my row which let me stretch out and sleep.

"We're American Airlines. You'll get there LA-TER than you thought!"

I'm sending them the lines to a new commercial jingle. Nothing harsh, just passive-aggressively honest.

Last night, Wednesday, was the Jeff Hansen show at Gorilla Tango. A lot of fun. Really a lot of fun. Not the JEFF HANSEN show, it wasn't an evening celebrating all things JEFF, he was just the one who booked me.

I didn't know what to expect, so I was really happy to see the thing turn out great. Dustin White, Paul Thomas, one of the members of the 'sketch-troupe' Chris, and I performed stand-up between pre-rehearsed sketches to a modest (not THAT modest) crowd and they, and we, had an awesome time.

Christmastime continues in the Midwest. The songs are playing everywhere. Blasting at the carwash yesterday. Barely audible at Carson Pirie Scott. It's coming down to it and this has got to be the most 'non-Christmasy feeling Christmas' I've ever had.

California tries to do Christmas, but it just feels like an obstruction between two scenes it has to shoot to keep ahead of schedule. It's so warm and sunny to feel like Christmas, which I kind of like.

Still. I'm here. It's colder (but not TOO cold) and before I know it, it'll be over and I'll be back in the city of Angels.

I hope everyone has a beautiful holiday season and they get to spend it with the people they love or can at least tolerate.

I'll be back in Burbank the 28th so if any of my California friends want to fire shotguns into the air for New Year's, I'll buy the ammo.

$10 for waiting 7 hours? That's hardly compensation. Better late than never though, ya know. I'm glad you made it safe-n-sound.

lol that gun is awesome. So I didn't know that this move out to Cali was permanent. Or semi-permanent? I'll try to come by the Lodge tonight, but I made an Evite commitment weeks ago to a party that I'm really too hung over to go to tonight and someone is driving me down there, so that's hard to refuse.

dude I had one of that same Odwalla the other night at Borders, and it was very good.

Yeah, I'm applying to grad schools right now, and all of my applications are due around January 1, so I haven't even given a thought to Christmas. I feel very non-Christmasy too. I have barely gone "Christmas shopping." Ironically, the one time I went was to Carson Pirie Scott. The cheezy earrings I bought my aunt set off the alarm when I walked out the door, and no one even bothered to come check it out, so I walked back in, walked out, walked in, walked out, looked puzzled, and finally shrugged my shoulders and walked off.

When I lived out in Arizona, Christmas was pretty much non-existent. It was great. I remember Christmas of '99 I was wearing shorts while sitting out on my porch in an easy chair watering my aloe plant, and talking to my family on the phone. They told me all about all the snow. I laughed and said it was 75. Winter sucks, but this year it hasn't bothered me all that much so far.

wow this is long!

I really want a Nintendo wii for Xmas. It is amazing.
