For some background about Los Tres, see this great writeup that came out today on the Associated Press newswire:

Los Tres formed in the 1980s and began to earn some international attention in the mid-'90s with their spare guitar riffs, memorable rhythms and lyrics that range from morose to loopy. (For a taste of both, check out their 1997 album "Fome," which includes both the suicide-themed "Olor a Gas" (Smell of Gas) and the bouncing "La Torre de Babel," a ridiculous morality tale about a young cigarette who tragically decides to go swimming.)
"Hagalo Usted Mismo" (Do It Yourself) features more of the trio's ability to pair heavy lyrics with pop harmonies. One cut, "Camino," opens with pure rockabilly guitar over a walking bass line _ perhaps to support the lyrics about walking away.
Musically, the band is able to conjure sounds reminiscent of 1960s early psychedelia, such as in the harmonics of the opening "No Es Cierto." They're also able to expertly play with timing switches and innovative instrumentation, such as on "Agua Bendita."
This album, produced by Joe Blaney (who's handled the Clash, the Ramones and Prince), features performances by Emmanuel del Real of Cafe Tacuba (the Mexican alt kings who paid tribute to Los Tres with a 2002 EP of covers) and acclaimed drummer Steve Jordan.
One can hope that "Hagalo Usted Mismo" helps bring Los Tres some of the popular acclaim they deserve.
