Man alive, I can't believe its August already. This summer has gone too fast; I don't feel like we have done anything!!
Actually right now, we are remodeling our kitchen, new cabinets, flooring, paint, countertops... the whole she-bang! I'm pretty excited about it; we started working on the re-design last year (no kidding) and I was finally able to get my hubby to move past his fear of 'change' (I guess that what the problem is, who the hell knows). In any event, our new granite countertops are being installed tomorrow! The cabinets are in, paint is on the walls... the only thing left is the flooring and that will be delivered tomorrow too! By the end of next week, we should be 95% done. Based on past projects we have done, we'll prolly never get beyond that (ie, there still isn't any trim in the hallway even though we removed it over three years ago...oh well, bitching about it doesn't seem to help get it up any faster). Perhaps I will have to have a 'new kitchen' party soon. I will definately post some pics in the near future...
This weekend we are going to Green Bay for their family night pre-season game! Hurray! It's our first vacation of the year (I am so not kidding). We are leaving Saturday morning and back on Sunday... big vacation. Ahh well, its better than nothing I suppose. I am pretty excited about going to Lambough (or however you spell it) field and watching the game. We are going to go to a few wineries on Sunday too, like the Von Stiehl winery in Algoma. Yum, that should be fun! We need to get some bottles to fill the new wine cabinet we installed in our kitchen.
Tyler has been busy this summer, which has kept him out of trouble for the most part. He was in two plays this summer; in the first play, School House Rock, he had a solo where he was Elvis and had his very own 'ensemble' and in the second play, Aladdin Jr, he played Aladdin. Very cool; I was so proud of him!!
A week ago, after battling cancer for eight monthes, we had to put our beautiful dog Dutch to sleep. I cried like a baby for three days and now just randomly... I was finally able to wear mascara again yesterday. I have never had to put a pet to sleep before and I don't want to do it again, ever! Even his vet was crying. All I know is my heart is quite broken over losing him. He was just one of those special dogs, its said that we only had him for four years. My dad always said, 'this dog has a personality.' He really did, he loved everyone and was such a good dog, stayed right by your side at all times, a real cuddler... you just can't teach those things. Trust me, I have been trying to teach Laci to be more like him.... maybe when she's a little older, she'll get there.... maybe. Enough.
I can't wait to have my stove and running water in kitchen again... I don't think I'll be eating cold meat sandwiches and deli salad for awhile, as we've been eating them for lunch and dinner for at least two weeks now... blah!
The rest of the summer can only get better :)
