Current mood:  exhausted

Hey, thought it was time we done a re-cap of what has been a pretty nutty year. Just done a count up of the gig's we have done this year its looking like 69 give or take a few! Not bad but I rekon we will do better next year!!
Warning this goes on a bit.......

January:
Our year started off with a Megabus trip to the mighty Harrogate to play the infamous Rock'n'Bowl II. This was the first time we had used the Megabus and after hearing various storys of the horror we were about to experience it wasn't really that bad, you pay for what you get!
Harrogate is really becoming like a second home for us now and getting to play with Fuck With Fire and getting incredibly drunk is a bonus!! After the gig at the bowling alley we moved onto a club where we proceded to get even more wasted. I'm going to blame the tiredness from the trip up there combined with massive quantities of alcohol for what was to happen later that night...So we get back to the legend that is Ozzy's house and it's  HUGE! There must of been like, fifteen people staying there that night and by this point I'm just ready for bed, so I find a loverly sofa on the landing like only a mega drunk person can do and sleep peacefully till the morning (or so I thought). I wake up the next day with one hell of a stompin' hangover, bugger! But that was nothing, as mysteriously my finger feels like it is propper broken, not like I've just slept on it funny but really buggerd! Shit!! I find Tim who was sleeping with Postin in the weight lifting room (told ya it was a big house) and he shakes his head at me like parents do when you get a crappy report from school. Shit! Confused about what I could of done to deserve this look, he goes on to explain that I somehow got up in the middle of the night, became a walking zombie and decided that Si's sleeping bag was mine and I was going to have to take it with force!! After being dragged off him I then stack it into a bed with no mattress on it!! I'm guessing it was this that caused the near breakage of my finger or maby I got roughed up by Tim when he put me back on the sofa?? It will always be a mystery! But Tims night wasn't over yet as Postin had woken up and decided it was time for him to go and be sick, after watching him wander left and right pass the weight room door several times Postin must of eventually found the toilet, done the deed then returned to the room they were staying in. He told Tim that he was very cold, fair enough you might think, then he decided that taking all his clothes off would be a good idea?!? Postin then complained that he was even colder now (drummers eh?) so Tim being the nice guy he is re-dressed him and put him to bed. Postin declares that this whole thing is "Tims fault" and that he "dragged us here" before nodding off and finally getting some much deserved sleep. So that is the story of our first trip to Harrogate! My finger still hurts, Postin has learned that the more clothes you have on the better chance you have of being warm and Tim knows it was all really his fault.
Later that month is when we got contacted by Household Name Records about the possibility of releasing something through them. We were lucky enough to get on a bill in November '05 with The Satanic Surfers at the Garage in London where we first met Lil (one of the amazing people who run HHN) He liked what we were doing and when Mouthwash had to pull out of a December show at the Camden Underworld we got asked to replace them and I guess we done good? Now we have all been playing in various bands for years and we all really respected the things HHN had done in the past so we were mega excited about this and after a drunken meeting (seriously most of the things we do are while we're drunk) it was decided that we would release an album, huzzah! as Lil likes to say.
After a couple more gig's down south it was back up to Harrogate to play with Good Clean Fun, Dead After School, Chief and FWF. This time we we're much better behaved and even got up early to catch the bus into Leeds ready to play New Year New Start at Josephs Well.
This was the second time we had played there and we love that venue, it's got a great bar section and an even better er...stage section though it can get hot as fuck, but its all good!! It was a wicked line up that we were just privaliged to be playing with. Sadly one of the bands playing that day, The sWord are no longer together, let's hope it's a Shermer style break-up
So that wraps up Jan. Shit! I have just realised that I'm going on a bit. I will do my best to keep the rest of the months a bit more shorter!!

More will be up soon with added picture greatness!

Febuary

er..yes hud that was an epic tale of january. but i like this idea of a recap so im gonna crack on with some more stuff. Febuary was pretty quiet really . a few local shows in the local scout hut with our friends D-rail . Mainly quiet as our long awaited split cd with Fuck with Fire had arrived. For those who havent got/seen it . the artwork is mental ! and involves hand cutting and assembling all the cds . That was a crazy ass few days. At that point too we started printing all our own band shirts too. And the YMATAB factory was born.

March

Right , March was to be perhaps the most drunken and perhaps most stoned tour we have ever done ...of course it was with Harrogate punks 'Fuck with Fire' . About two weeks of booze fueled mayhem around the UK. Ana Banana from Slovenia drove us , shes a brave lady. The shows were sweet , allthough some how in two weeks we ended up staying back at portsmouth after shows about twice , and back in Harrogate after shows. Me thinks the route was a little rushed. Highlights on this tour for me were OZ from harrogates after show parties . we recorded a load of drunken acoustic songs , with pots and pans and guitar and stuff , one of which is a hidden track on our new album shake up

anyways , yeah 'Fuck with Fire' rock , and are now true friends of ours.

Also in march was the Southampton Hobbit alldayer with BCSU and Grabass Charlestons. What a good time that was. We found that a certain energy drink and YMATAB do not bode well with eachother. In fact i think i presonally lost a few hours of my life that night. I do remember Postinator taking his shirt off and letting jack from Chillerton write their set list on his chest . He was just kinda standing their all their set. Plus he was penned up with cat whiskers and anchors ! hahaha...yeah , enough about that.

April

By this part of the year we were finishing up writing the new album 'shake up' but before we knew it we were on the road again with ' Latterman '. Tim and the Postinator were playing in Ruin U! who did the first half of the UK dates and YMATAB did the second half of the tour. And what a tour it was . Latterman are top chaps. Jan YO YO drove both bands in his sexy van. and fun was had by all. I still maintain that i wasnt sick on this tour , but according to Hud and Dan , i was. They told me it was in a basement in leeds.  Matterman locking all the booze and weed in the van was very funny , if not upsetting after about 2 hours ! hahah! our bro the huss from ' Attack vipers' came along for the trip which was ace. He's a good egg.

what made this tour crazy was after the Ruin U! leg , latterman headed to ireland for a few days . in that time YMATAB went and recorded our album with Pete miles , it worked out at 14 tracks in 14 hours! we recorded live pretty much in a big windmill. Pete is a legend . on the second day of recording it was just vocals to do , and pete suggested a few beers would get my voice up to live performance stylee. so , i started drinking at about 10.30am. About 7 beers later i started to sing ! put it this way ..there were a few takes which will never be heard again , me rapping over punk rock drunk is definately not a good thing. i would however like to stress i dont generally have 7 beers before we play a show...unless its an all dayer

on the second to last day of our time with latterman they were crashing at our house in portsmouth. in the morning Pete Miles arrived with all his gear so we could set up and record backing vocals. Latterman were up for doing some backing vocals too , which really finished off the whole tour in such a cool way. Again top dudes !

May

in may we clocked up some more southcoast shows whci are allways fun and games. We went up to london to support Tim barry from 'Avail' it was also ' The King Blues' record release party too. it was a rad night. Im a bit of a country Bumpkin and was lovin Tim's stuff. yee haww !

An Awesome squat show in russell Square , london. put on by the last hours magazine crew. We love squat shows.

June/July

Met loads of true dudes in these couple of months. Started hooking up with the chaps from 'Captain Everything'  met the wonderful 'Hogwash' from france , we did a few shows with those guys. And then we had the pleasure of meeting italys oliver reed ' Stolen bikes ride faster' amazingly good band , and soo funny . lorenzo your a legend !

Our CD 'Shake up' Came out on Household Name records ! thanks guys!

we also did a few PA fundraisers for out friends the guildford PBS collective. Also played the first of what has turned out to be the best house shows in southampton . Andy from ' were all gonna die '  house ! these shows are awesome ! go to em !

August

Back on the road again ! with 'Circus Act' from southampton. 15 days of friends and punk rock! highlights from this has to be my cousin theo driving us for some of it , and meeting cheeky pete who drove the first half. Harrogate came up trumps again , by putting on a punk/metal festival in the middle of a big bastard field. it was AWESOME . Hud , went mysterioulsy missing for 3 hours! he claims that he was chatting to a cow in a field , explaining how he could never eat it , and would look after said cow. i do believe him as he was soo excited when he returned from this epic encounter ! The three of us woke up in this field , allthough Hud and myslef did stay up until the sun rise ...awwwww.

'Circus Act' Blew us away every night. as did there after show antics ! Dan drums act , fell under the pen marker of justice many a time after passing out after shows. Best being at luke from bradfords house , arms folded in a kitchen chair , so we did the right theing and just left him there all night for lukes folks to find !

a fantastic couple of weeks.

September

we did our usual  getting the train to shows where we could. had our second show at brixtons windmill. that place is cool !  we hooked up with Shook ones and sinking ships in swindon for a sweet show. they came back to our house , it was fun. see ...straight edgers and drunk punks can get on.

A great weekend in sepetember was the Blacksheep fanzine weekender ! Ourselves and Circus act went up to sheffield and manchester for these shows. they were ace ! unfortunately it was to be shermers last show , but its okay ..they're back together again. Allthough the postinator had to mega bus it back on his own. he had to stay up all night to get the 5am bus from manchester. but fear not as the comedy genius that is Pete from circus act stayed up with him. I was asleep in the next room , but honestly ive never laughed so much at the the conversations they were both having just to try and keep postinator wake !

October

more southcoat action with Circus Act and Chillerton , i seriously think if us 3 bands went on tour together it would result in the most fun ever!a great house show at andys house also featured this month !

October was to be our biggest atomic adventure. We played with ' Samiam' and  ' The Draft' in london as well as ' Defiance Ohio ' in the space of a week. The following week , we were off to Florida to play the FEST V in gainesville.

After much , and i actually mean an incerdible amount of stress gettin huds passport sorted (it arrived 2 days beofre the trip ) we were set to go. We managed to play the fest by chatting with tony No idea and sending em a CD. they liked the album so off we went.

Dan and Hud had never been on a plane before so they were excited chaps. The journey was killer. we had to make 3 changes in philadelphia , charlotte then on to gainesville all in one day. Luckily we had greg Chillerton travelling with us to keep us in check ! hahah ! plus the lovely Nik , and Ranon came too . When we finally got there we were sooo excited! The next day we got our bearings , hooked up with tony and the No idea crew and ened up playing a record store called the wayward council that night. it was immense! also we hooked up with all the UK folks who came over. Hud discovered 'Sparks' the energy drink with vodka and shit in it..he was wired !

The next day we played common grounds , i dunno if we were scared , nervous or just excited. it was amazing hooking up with latterman again who lent us literally all of thier equipment ( thank you guys ) we played with the lawrence arms , latterman , new brusies , North lincoln , smoke or fire and savage brewtality. the place was packed ! when we played we had all the posi hand claps and even a circle pit which blew our minds ! looking across the satge at hud and postinaor we were all just smiling from ear to ear ! it was probably our most special show ! after that we got boozed with latterman and the lawrence arms , and enjoyed the most full on thunderstorm ive ever seen. The rest of the fest was as you can imagine the best time ever. everything about it couldnt be faulted. Bands , booze , great people and great weather! we were soooo sad to leave !

November

winding down a bit now , we all got fest aids , seriously jet lag is shit ! highlights for November were supporting the Loved ones and strike anywhere in london ! Both bands were ruddy great ! and it was a pleasure to meet em and play with them .

Decmeber

PROPAGANDHI thats what december was about. we got to play the london show with them . But postin and his girlfriend nik travelled the UK to catch most of thier UK dates. im jealous ! they are the best band i have ever seen in my life ! too fucking good ! we are all huge fans . the london show was the HHN records xmas show ! we partied hard and had a terrific night all round ! plus it was our friends Captian everythings triumphant return to the stage !

our final show of the year was where we started ..at rock n bowl in harrogate ! our now home from home ! got to hang with our buddies ' The mercury league ' and partied our asses off.

Then it was xmas time ! you know ..family stuff...friends and booze! now im writing all this shit.

so whats new for 2007 ???

we have got about 6 songs we are getting up to scratch , Touring in febuary in the UK . Touring The UK and europe with North Lincoln for a month in may . Hopefully Hooking up with the loved ones in june for some UK shows. And september we are planning a return to the USA for possibly 2/3 months ! so 2007 , could indeed be a crazy year !

Thank you to everyone who has helped us in 2006 , drove us , put us on , fed us , boozed us sang along and generally been rad !
