...BUT (and there had to be a "but," didn't there?) I played on Mike Doughty's new CD, Golden Delicious and I'm really proud of that. I was listening in my car last night and I found myself thinking, "that is some smoking bass..."

Ain't that sick? Forgive me!!! I loved myself for a minute. It is not my way. Self-loathing and embarrassment are the twin well-springs of my power (they aren't so much springs, but rather like fetid puddles. they force you to your knees and offer no refreshment, merely basic nourishment), but every once in a while I think that I get to say, "yes!" And I did today while listening to "I Wrote A Song About Your Car" and the bass line. The other stuff, especially the last track, is good too, but that one just tripped trigger.

Oh, and I guess I'm a literal horn-tooter too, since I play some pretty free bone on another track on the disc!

Anyways... pick up Mike's record and just tell me that it isn't something! GO MIKE!!! And GO MIKE DOUGHTY'S BAND! Pete, John, and Scrap are salt of the earth, GOOD ONES!
