hi friends, we are super pleased to announce the release of Beneath the Dead Castle (Volume 2) on House of Alchemy run by our good friend and honorary brother Adam. This is by far the darkest and murkiest of our albums, and it's extra special to us as it marks the end of the 5 volume series we began three years ago, holed up in cy's bedroom and (in the words of brad rose) 'whirring away through the end of time'.
from Adam: Following their acclaimed debut here on -house of alchemy- and two stellar discs on Phantom Limb (Vol.5) and Foxglove (Vol. 3) comes Volume 2 in their mangled and distorted un-series. This air is thick this time around, musty even. Prisoner children run the castle halls making these strange sounds, deranged echoes, lost in a maze. Electricity flows through this one, via frayed cords. Percussion jars you from stasis, leaving you only to gasp for cool crisp air. And then things really get unwound.
from Norman Records: Antique Brothers.. The danger of having children later in life. I'vegot a half-sister who's two so by the time she's my age I'll definitelybe an antique brother, maybe this lot will let me in the band. Althoughif they're antique now they might be dead by then.. The rock dream willhave to wait. Or the experimental old-sounding shit will have to wait, which is what this is. It's sort of like an old folk or blues guitaristhaving a wee improvise in his creepy old cellar while the tenants makesinister noises above him, occasionally throwing an oscillator down thestairs for maximum anachronistic value. This is really good stuff, darkand gothic with a small 'g' as well as being vaguely psychedelic too..Claustrophobic psychedelia maybe? The more melodic end of MV & EEis the comparison being thrown around the office, Feathers and Fursaxatoo. 'Beneath the Dead Castle' comes packaged in a fold-out papersleeve with a photee of some scary old-school kidz. Lovely!
( MV told us the package was 'far out' when we gave him one)
go to http://www.thehouseofalchemy.com and snatch one up, while you are there, check out rad new releases by Robedoor, Gown, and BOTOS (what fine company we keep!)
and there's more good news, we are right now working on albums for Abandon Ship, Not Not Fun, Stunned Records, and upstart tape giant Really Coastal, hopefully all coming soon, along with a very special record for our return to House of Alchemy. Tour DVD someday. Antique Brothers Mk II! stay tuned.
much love, antique bros.
