Hey everyone,
It's been a while and we've been busy. Since the last I blogged we played at the MiddleEast twice and the Lit down in NY. All the shows went well. The first MidEast gig was back on January 16 with the Diamond Mines and Yoni Gordon & the Goods - good times (couldn't resist). Both of those bands trekked down to NY to play the Lit the next night. Birdlips from Virginia was also on that bill and they were awesome. On February 3rd we played the MidEast again with Sera Del Fuego, Bright Hours & St. Helena. There's video footage of it somewhere, please let us know if you've seen it or know where to see it. St. Helena's got a record release in March at the Cantab & I'd recommend checking them out - they were spot on.
For upcoming shows we've got Thursday February 26 at the Plough and Friday March 6th back at the Lit in NY. If you're in Boston, definitely swing by the Plough show - it's a really cool place to see a show (if you haven't already) and we're helping close out the Diamond Mines residency for their EP release (Pave the Whales for Oil). I'd highly recommend checking Pave out; it's great.
I'm continuing my new music binge this year, although I slowed down a bit. I got the new Animal Collective and I'll be cliche and say I love it. I also picked up the new Heartless Bastards album and highly recommend it for anyone and everyone. They're awesome - live, on record, whatever. I finally picked up Tulsa's album from last year and really enjoy it.
Oh and I got a sneak peak at the Press' new album and it's fucking great. Everyone should check that out when it comes out. Unfortunately I have no idea when that will be, but I'll let you know if and when I find out.
So we've been working on a ton of new material and hope to hit the studio in coming months. Some of the new songs are already getting bumped to the live set, but there's still a lot of stuff in 'acoustic demo' phase. A lot of it's on my IPod, so you can ask to hear it if you see me around town.
Cheers, Chris
