Doom & Gloom Solar Eclipse

The above article in Yahoo News caught my eye. It seems the Indian Astrologists are predicting big calamities. Great. They open their mouths & predict this and when nothing happens, the rest of the world looks at anyone with an interest in Astrology and they presume we're all idiots. *sigh*

Folks, I've said it often that there are a LOT of lunatic fringe in our fold just as there are in the mainstream religions of the world. What do we get to show for it? Crackpots who predict horrid disasters with nothing more than the stars to guide them. Lovely! Simply friggin' lovely!

But while folklore dictates that performing Sorcery & Magic during or near an eclipse is bad JuJu, I typically ignore that nonsense. That is unless I'm working for a client or making an item for a client. For myself, I don't care where the stars are because when I want & need something I WANT it yesterday. But when I'm making an item for a client, I want to make absolutely certain they're going to be happy & that there's not going to be any chance of failure.

The saddest part is when so-called 'psychics' & fruitcake 'McWiccans' open their mouths to the press & make bold statements like disaster predictions, the likelihood of those predictions coming true are slim to none. None of these people have the right to speak for anyone but themselves and I'm glad that the press saw it as "Indian Astrologers" and not Astrologers, New Age, Metaphysical folks & others involved in Mysticism as being the nuts on the cake for this little fiasco.

So what if they're right? Right. Sure. I'll believe that when I see it. But in all fairness, these predictions of disasters are so vague that if anything were to happen - earthquake, tidal wave, forest fire, office fire or something even a busload of kids getting killed - would fall under 'disaster'.

These guys aren't even close to what Ted Owens could predict. If you've not read the book, "PK Man" by Jeffrey Mishlove, then borrow a copy from your library. It's a fascinating book and one that I think you'll go, "Wow. That guy was spot on in his predictions!" Heat waves, earthquakes, power outages and more all predicted weeks ahead of time without any Astrology or hocus pocus and almost al of Owen's predictions came to fruition. Weird? Yep. But he relied on Space Intelligences! lol (true)

Just be aware in case you wake up and your home is floating away in a flood or a sinkhole has swallowed part of your house or something equally odd.

Mc wiccans. I love that. Yes i agree. If intent is pure and strong enough it will ignore those smelly belly stars.

Asians witness 21st century’s longest eclipse

I feel it more of a religious thing, than astrological with Indians Hindus, who did additional rituals by heading for the waters. It was unusually long, and the time of day, made it seem unusually scary.
Muslims don't usually indulge in astrology, but, they too, feel eclipses often proceed a catastrophe.
Fact, There is tremendous power in eclipses, which is why Astrologers, and wiccans pay heed.
It was a Vedic astrologer of Mountain astrology who was only one that predicted the attack on Afghanistan. So, I wouldn't say, its all just mumble jumble. Western astrologer observe aspects.

I hadn't checked on eclipses, before the last one hit, and had a car accident. The eclipse hit my Mars square to Mercury, which is an accident aspect, and Mercury rules cars and short distance travel. My timings slightly off. I was fortunate it wasn't real serious, and nobody badly injured.

I talked to bf in Turkey, who isn't into astrology or eclipses. When we talked the day after the eclipse, he told me there was a short but strong earthquake which shook the houses. He's in Izmet, where in the 70's, they had one of the worse Earthquakes in the region with many deaths, and hundreds of houses destroyed.

Last night on Coast to Coast I heard about whats a new system of predicting with a technology, using a software program . They foresee a number of negative cycles/events converging over the next few years: Israel attacking Iran is greatest danger we feel, over the next few months, esp. November.

New moons in general (and eclipses are new moon squared), since they're the union of Sun and Moon, are strong medicine, & specialized.  As a magician, it's generally wise either to use it consciously or avoid using celestial forces completely.  In Tantric sects, they like to do initiations at the new Moon, I don't know about eclipses.

Disasters & catastrophies are a safe bet anytime, it's a little like predicting marital drama among celebrities.  That's why fundies are always so convinced we're in the End Times, there's always plenty of material to draw on.
