This Symphonic Metal Band have all the expected qualities of any Symphonic Metal band. From the catchy riffs to soaring vocals, the symphonic hooks and operatic vocal harmonies keep any fan of this sub-genre of Metal interested and listening for more.
Obvious comparisons in style can be made to Kamelot and Within Temptation, and the band have been compared to Judas Priest in the past. They certainly have a fairly diverse sound, from fast-paced Metal riffs to slow and operatic choruses, there’s a certain level of diversity to their overall sound.
The album starts very strongly with two fantastic tracks, the first is a 7-minute monster that keeps throwing in the band’s different sounds, without overcrowding the song, and keeps the momentum flowing right into the last seconds. The title track begins in a similar style to the opening track, but dives instead into a gothic riff and catchy vocals ringing clearly over the backing guitar riff and drum beat.
Most of this album is strong and keeps the momentum flowing throughout, but the album seems to tail off at the end with ‘The Chain’, where vocalist London Wilde’s vocals seem to take a bit of a strange turn, with odd vocal changes and some weak sound within her harmonies.
Otherwise this is a very solid album, and quite a debut. Wildestarr could well be the next big Symphonic Metal band, they have all the potential there, and if this debut effort is anything to go by, there’s a huge amount of hope for the Californian Metallers.
