Tomorrow we find ourselves pointed towards the belly of the beast: Southern California. The biggest names in indie rock have written songs about the horrors of Los Angeles; whether or not I agree with them, I somehow find myself wondering if penning a song along those lines would move our notoriety a bit forward. But I digress.
We are all pretty excited about the trip. Although we have all toured through the area in previous musical outfits (in point of fact, even a previous, more acoustic iteration of this very band has at one time found itself playing shows in SoCal), this is our first opportunity to travel together as the 6-piece behemoth we now are. And I'd be lying if I didn't say that the main event around which we constructed this brief southern excursion was the San Diego Comic Convention. It's no secret that some of us are connoisseurs of the more marginalized facets of popular culture (read: huge nerds), and ComicCon promises to deliver in bulk. Of particular interest to the band is
Dr. Horrible, which if you missed on the Internet this past week, I HIGHLY suggest you purchase via iTunes without delay. It's a blog far more entertaining than this one, and you'll be glad you did.
But I digress.
Again.Along the way, we'll be playing a few shows. If you're in the Merced, Fresno, or LA areas, please to be checking our main page for dates in your hood for the coming week. We will have copies of our album,
Boy Wonder, along with various other bits of merch.
This trip marks the second half of our July tour extravaganza; the first half consisted of shows in the surrounding area, so we didn't have to spend multiple hours sitting next to each other in overcrowded economy cars, endlessly quoting Dr. Horrible. (Oh, who am I kidding? That's one of our new favorite pastimes.)
After these shows, we're taking a brief break to work on new material and tend to other commitments. So I hope you can make it out!
Cheers,
The Def Arts
