In my opinion, it's no doubt myspace still has the lock on the social network music scene market. However, with the launching of the Facebook music platform, I believe many bands, artist and musicians are going to flood the dates to be some of the first to take advantage of this very strong MySpace competitor.
The very fact, it's superior to MySpace aesthetically is a huge advantage in my opinion. However the social ad initiative is what's got me so excited about this!

Facebook is already getting started on its music initiative, and fresh details emerged this week. On Wednesday, a source to Digital Music News pointed to a branded page concept happening at Facebook, and online examples to prove it. Others, including TechCrunch and Idolator, are also discussing the early-stage developments. And a number of early-moving bands are already jumping into the action.
A band represents just one possible user of the branded page concept. Other takers will include consumer brands, sports teams, and politicians. "When your fans interact with your Facebook Page, the actions they take are automatically generated into social stories," the social network described. In turn, the branded pages tie into a larger Facebook Social Ads initiative, which allows advertisers to deeply target their messages into the social interactivity on Facebook. Bands can layer audio, video, tour dates, images, discographies, and other elements into their pages.
