This past Sunday (the 15th) I went to the Electric Factory in Philadelphia to see the Sounds of the Underground tour. Believe it or not, this was my first concert (yeah I know, I am 22 and I love music and this was only my first concert), and it blew me away. The moment I stepped in the Factory and the moment that first song played by Goatwhore, I got such a rush through me, an amazing feeling.
Seeing Gwar live alone was worth every penny, they put on one hell of a show. From the giant satan to the t-rex that bit satan's head off, there was never a dull moment.
Seeing Chimaira live, my current favorite band, was also worth every penny spent. Aside from Gwar, they had the best light show and really tore the place apart.
Every Time I Die came on stage, played their first song, and then the lead singer filled us in on how he did not have much of a voice, but you do not miss a show and he sang freakin awesome for someone with next to no voice. He got the crowd involved to help him out and even brought one lucky fan up on stage to down a beer.
Amon Amarth, Shadows Fall, Darkest Hour, and Goatwhore did freakin awesome as well.
Seeing bands that I did not know much about such as Job For A Cowboy, The Acacia Strain, and The Devil Wears Prada made me really get into them. They all put on a freakin great show.
The concert was amazing, and I can only hope to see bands such as Gwar, Chimaira, Job For A Cowboy, etc. again live one day. Anybody who has caught the Sounds of the Underground tour in other cities, I am sure they were blown away as well, first concert or not.
The one thing that surprised me though were the high amount of people who did not seem to care much about the bands that were playing. They preferred to just hang out outside by the merch booths or sit around doing nothing. There were also quite a few people who just seemed to be along for the ride along with the people who were just there to mosh and run around like idiots who wanted to bump into everyone but did not want to be bumped back. Anybody who did not pay attention to the bands playing, I feel sorry for them.
