Well this certainly has been an unbelievable year. We're trying to play it cool but the truth is we're giddy like school girls. Seven months ago we released 'Dead Calm Horizon' and we had no idea what to expect. Three months later we still had no idea what to expect until a review of it popped up on i(heart)music. Since then the album has appeared on sites in Italy, France, Sweden, Australia, the US and The Philippines and it's made at least 4 top ten album lists for 2008.
It could be said that music journalism (and text media in general) is undergoing the same chaotic shift as the music industry itself. But unquestionably one of the greatest things to emerge from this shift is the independent blog - honest, critical and beholdent to no one but themselves. All of our critical success began with i(heart)music's review and so at the end of such a great year we're absolutely thrilled to be listed as their #1 Album of 2008. Thanks for the support Matthew and our deepest appreciation to everyone who has given the album a chance over this past year!
