Current mood:  bouncy

Bergamo, Italy, 11 april 2008  8pm

Rain finally passed and the hilltop villages emerged. Bells rang out in time with the sounds of my boots on stone streets. Can"t read the signs but truth be told,...i never really could. Anxious to play some music but my guitar is in Eileens van, so no hope of that. Finally getting some rest with two days off, after some two weeks of very little at all. buses, trains, planes, bagge claims, customs, queques, and thousands of steps leading up....not many lifts over here. Moving down the road to the venue tomorrow.

Shows have been great...hit and miss with numbers of peeps and cd sales,..but i dont really mind. Eileens band and Eileen herself have been terrific...great shows, great fun and they are all as kind and as generous as anyone i"ve met. Got a good portion of one song done called " Kisses, not Castles". Had a strange sadness leaving England...really really grown fond of it...and some poeple there....my sadness caught me by suprise...i miss my family, my dog, i miss my country, but wouldntà trade this for the world....

Learning a few phrases to use on stage as some banter...such as "Puoi Portarci quattro birre"  which means " may i have 4 beers...and

"fare sesso con mi " which means can i have sex with you....which i plan on using only inappropriately to the wrong people....only when deemed inappropriate

thanks for reading...thanks for listening....hell, thanks for everything....God save the queen...well...i don"t know about that.....

You said "lift" LOL! You're becoming an Englishman! Keep practicing the Italian...and while you're there, you should try playing a show with some red wine instead of beer; they do wine right in Italia. Just ask for "quattro vino rosso". No, I can't quite picture it either, but man, would you look classy ;)

The first 2 parts of your blog sound like it would make a terrific song.
I especially like how you're picking up the most important parts of the language.
That's always a good ice breaker!

Best to stick to the chat up line that always works best "Spiacente ho una moglie e due bambini sostengono a casa"

Capisce...

...this makes great sense.

You truly belong to the world, you see...and the world - it belongs to you.

We are all so extraordinarily proud of you.

Michael, it's so great to hear that you're doing well and enjoying the tour. 5 weeks is a darn long time to be gone, but travelling is such an amazing thing, I always think it expands our world and makes everything seem closer all at the same time. Italy should be gorgeous and sunny and just about perfect this time of year, so enjoy it for those of us stuck in the cool and rainy back here! Take care...

Wow...

There isn't anything that I can say that all the others have not already said...

Except... "FARE SESSO CON MI !!! "

Did I use it inappropriately enough? :)

My Irish Brethren!

Glad to hear you have your priorities straight across the pond - beer and sex! The only thing missing is baseball. The Phils knocked around your Cubbies last week here in Philly. Looking forward to knocking it around with you in May! Working with Matt on a couple other dates to book you here too. Got three shows lined up so get home safe man.

Love and miss ya!
