OK, when I got up to sing with Shaun Young, I had a whole thing planned out for what I wanted to say. I wanted to thank everyone for coming, thank everyone for playing, tell everybody how freaking awesome they were. Unfortunately, all I got out was "I want to thank Rick Broussard for putting this on.." and then I got a big ol' honkin' lump in my throat and couldn't say any more. I figured I should probably just shut up and play, rather than be a damn blubbering fool up onstage in front of everybody. SO, here's what I meant to say....

Rick Broussard -- I can't tell you how much I appreciate you making this happen for us. Even though we've only known each other for a few years, I truly consider you a good friend and a great person. Not many people would have taken the time and effort to do this -- you're one of a kind, brother.

Special thanks......

* To Shaun and Amber for letting me barge in on your sets. Nothing makes my soul happier than singing with world class singers, and y'all are two of the best there is, period.
* Thanks to Brendon Bigelow for taking on the emcee duties and doing a fantasic job as always.
* Thanks to Matt Brooks for the posters and t-shirt(s).
* Thanks also to Jennifer, Debbie Rae, and Brendon for bringing the cameras and getting some cool video for us! Hopefully there'll be some YouTube action with that sometime soon.
* Jules/Mrs. Wig -- I didn't get to talk to you much during the day, but thank you SO MUCH for the raffle idea and execution. You didn't have to do that, and we're both really touched that you took the extra effort.
* Thanks to Steph, Shannon, Satomi (and ?) for sportin' the 13 and passing the hat! Much appreciated as well, and I know Mrs. K dug it.
* Special thanks to Robert and Susan for the fantastic spread of grub!! Mighty tasty stuff, and totally unexpected. Thank y'all so much!

To all the singers and pickers (that means you too, drummers!) who played -- Thank every single one of you so much for donating your time and talent to help us out. The players in our Austin country-roots scene are the best in the world, both in talent and heart. Y'all are the very best of the best.

To all our friends, family, dancers, and music lovers -- Immeasurable thanks for coming out to support us, for the two-steppin' and just having a damn good time! We can't thank you enough for all the kindness, generosity, support, prayers, good thoughts, and general good mojo you've given us both over the past months, and we can't tell you how much it meant to us to see everyone out there on Sunday. Kris and I are both touched, honored, and amazed at how great the day turned out! The words "thank you" don't do justice to the gratitude we feel for all we have received from everybody. We couldn't ask for better friends, and we couldn't have gotten by without you all.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH.

Awwww.....ya'll! No thanks needed, I don't mind speaking for everyone when I say we were happy to do it. Considering how much you guys have given to the country music scene in general over the years, I think it's the least we could do.

(p.s...it was just us three with the 13s. Just Sharpie, people, not real tattoos!)

Guess Eric and I missed ya'll at the benefit. Kris - I know you have more to battle but I am so glad to hear you are doing better. I saw Olivia Newton John on TV yesterday and after battling and winning over cancer she considers herself a "thriver" rather than a survivor - says it is more empowering. Sounds like you are quite the thriver! Best Wishes and Many Blessings, C Flatt
