Jarrett enters DownBeat 'Hall of Fame'
Keith Jarrett is on the cover of the December issue of US jazz journal Down Beat, and officially voted into its long-established Hall of Fame in the 73rd Annual Readers Poll. Jarrett's history is explored in a five page article that details his relationship with ECM as well as the characteristics of his three great groups – the "American" and "European" quartets and the long-running trio with Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette. 2008, 25th anniversary of the "Standards" project, has been a banner year for the pianist, marked by a number of 'historical' reissues – "Setting Standards" (bringing together the three volumes of music recorded in New York's Power Station in 1983), and two DVDs of Japanese trio performances "Standards I/II" and "Live In Japan". Additionally, three Jarrett titles were incorporated in ECM's specially priced Touchstones series: "Facing You", "Standards Live" and "Bye Bye Blackbird". The next album release from the Jarrett trio is "Yesterdays", due in January 2009. More details soon.
