There you have it kids! Here is what they think about the new Shrine E.P.
DEADTIDE.COM
This review will be about as brief as this five song, seven minute opus. It's not grind but punk with a hint of death metal. During the breakdown of the first song there is no way you don't want to start hurting people. The production is raw as hell. You can hear the material, it's just covered in blood. I dig them a bit more when they play slow but when they get fast it's punk with inhumanly guttural death growls.
I can't call it crust due to the speed and it's not quite punk because of the growled vocals, but if you need a short burst of something raw and nasty or a mix of Autopsy and Discharge, then this is a good EP to own.

SHRINE OF SCARS/The Knife (Mindfire Records)
5 tracks of speed/death metal.
This isn't too bad and reminds me of some of those death metal demos I used to get in the early 90's. The singer goes all out and really delivers the vocals with intensity and fury and no tough guy crap neither. The music is chaotic and out of control metal core. The band play speed metal with the energy and style of old hardcore. The band I am sure have tunes you can hear on their page so you can be the judge, but for me this is a pretty damn good band.

ZERO MAGAZINE
Well, scratch one more out of the "I thought they were dead" column. Although I've only heard selected tracks from their Violence is the Answer release (and even that was a while back), I was not expecting this at all. Five tracks in just about seven minutes – but what a seven minutes they are. Its not just mindless grind, either. Sure, its got those blast beats and rapid-fire riffing, but its more like death metal on 45.
"Septic Romance" sticks out of the bunch simply because it's more methodical and fully developed than the rest of the tracks. The execution is near flawless, and the band even tosses in some ambient guitar noises in the background. Still, I find it hard to recommend buying this disc simply because it IS so short and the value just isn't there even if the brutality is. Instead, go check them out at a venue near you and await their next full-length release – and who knows? You may even be motivated to ignore the silly magazine writer and buy The Knife anyways.
