Following on from my last entry. One thing that I did at the AD2009 music festival in Derby was to give out some demo CDs to the people that I met. One of those people was Klaus Hoffmann - Hoock. Anyway, I have heard back from him and here is what he had to say......

Hi Paul,

thanks for your praising word about our Derby gig.
I had the chance to listen to you CD-R and as you asked me to let you know what I think about it, here come my impressions:
Listening through the whole CD I found that it has rather nice atmospheres and good ideas. You seem to use mainly "industrial" and rhythmical sounds that I find, seen as a whole, a bit too much at times. What about a sort of dramatic plot building with quiet scenes contrasting heavier parts? I found that especially electronic music lives through its spaciness which often leaves room for "breathing". A quiet piece of music after a heavy song makes your CD for sure even more interesting.
Changing rhythms (and rhythm instruments) could add some extra variety, too. Experiment also with panorama sweeps and varying the instruments levels during the mix-down to create a deeper sonic impression.
Don't get me wrong, I do not pretend to be the ultimate artist with the optimal knowledge of studio craftsmenship but if you listen to say Pink Floyd or Tangerine Dream you will find those ingredients add considerably to their songs.
Hoping to have served you in a way I wish you all the best for your music
Regards

Klaus

OK, so it's not all bad but it's not all good either but at least I had the courage to give this great musician a CD and ask for his opinion and thoughts and I got them. It won't deter me from continuing to make music. I really appreciate his words and hopefully it will lead to other things.

As the message in the fortune cookie that I got at the Chinese restaurabt where I had last night said, 'Your talents will be recognised and suitably rewarded'!!!!

Well that's all for now.

Catch you later!!!!

Best wishes from Paul.....
