Well, as you know, Mr. Axl Rose is releasing a new album with the name of Guns N' Roses attached to it this weekend. I spent my entire lunch hour today driving around the city with a fresh new copy of 'Chinese Democracy' cranked up in my car. After listening to the 14 tracks (ok, I skipped 'Better' and the title track for obvious reasons), I was pretty surprised by it. I was actually kind of shocked by it. Let me just say this:
I've played Guns N' Roses; I know Guns N' Roses and Mr. Rose, this is no Guns N' Roses!
If you had any intention of going to Best Buy on Sunday to buy this new album, please do so knowing that this is an Axl Rose solo record. You will not hear much trace of a band called Guns N' Roses. Sure, there are a couple of tracks on the album that do resemble that band, however overall, this should have been called simply Axl Rose or The Axl Rose Band because it's a far, far cry from anything like Appetite For Destruction or even Use Your Illusion (I & II). It makes The Spaghetti Incident sound really good. Purchase this at your own risk.
