Sweet Caribbean Girls (S.C.G.) the Jam for Summer 2008 is one of those miracles that happens when you combine a fresh young group with a veteran who continues to reinvent himself.
Red Rat first met the group at a Sean Kingston Concert in Orlando, where he was asked to perform as a special guest artiste. Crossovah was the opening act. Brad Hemmings, the CEO of CaribbeanEntertainment.com made the introduction "I saw it as a natural fit, the group had a great deal of respect for (Red) Rat and he loved their energy...it was the beginning of something good." Red Rat joined the group on stage and they became fast friends, with the veteran mentoring the group on their performances and recordings.
During a recording session at Circle House Studios in Miami Red Rat where Red Rat and Crossovah were both working on new material someone suggested the collaboration on "Sweet Caribbean Girls" and the rest as they say is history.
As the 2008 summer approached, DeeJays all over the World simultaneously decided to begin playing the song without it being officially released as a single. "We were getting calls from England, Trinidad, all over the U.S....everywhere." says Ricardo Drue, one of the four young men in the group. Drue represents Trinidad; Christopher "Criss" Grant represents Jamaica while Dave "Kupid" Richards and Joshua "J-Rah" Jenkins represent Antigua and Barbados.
