My mixes version of "La Danza Macabra"  (The Phase II version).

Exclusive for here on MySpace, you'll be hearing my mixes that was done and mastered by me during the early part of 2006 and I was using WavesLab 5 as my mastering software.

These tracks here are not the same as the full production and offical release CD.

These where mixed back in early 2006 and considering the low budget equipment and about four to six months straight of learning to master and fine tune and using every CD player with in arms reach way from friends and family for reference... I was relentless to learn and as a result here's what I did.

Alright, what does all this Phases bullshit means... Well if you care to know then great and if you already know then I guess thats great too... Everytime I'm here on "Daggers" to write, I have the more I don't give a f**k attitude, very strange... But anyways... Here's how I did it...

Without getting into the whole process of what goes on in a recording in a studio... I'll go straight to the point into what I call CD mixing phases for reference and evaluation.

Once every instrument is recorded and then balance in volume and EQ towards the end of the session. You and your band mates get a copy of CD with all your existing tracks/songs mixes.

You then go and listen to it in all the CD players you can get a hold of, being in your car or entertainment surround sound system- whatever... You should then listen with such discrete ear to what instruments or sounds needs to be higher in volume and maybe place back b/c too loud,  what needs to be EQ differently, whatever...

After you and your band mates decides what tracks songs needs what. You go back to the studio with all of your notes and the tweaking process begins for each track. Again this is not law, its what I experience and how I did it. Depending on time and money this process can be just that one shot phase in tweeking of maybe a series of a few more... It really depends on budget and time.

Phase II:
The balance on the vocals and backing vocals are very close compare to the offical CD. The backing vocals are balanced well, but my mistake was to make all the guitars tracks, a hair louder and that you'll hear on Phase III.

I mastered Phase II differently from Phase III and don't know if you can tell the difference. The sound is not as open as Phase III... Anyways Phase II is exclusive for the here on "Love and Daggers" and I hope you like'em...

For those who have the full pro-production release of "La Danza Macbra" CD will definitely hear the difference and it will be a treat. The mixes on the offical release of "La Danza Macabra" CD was done by Jerry Tubbs at Terra Nova Studios in Austin, Texas.

I'm no where near the pros but I can now understand the whole due/process much better of mastering a CD. Who knows, maybe one day, I'll deicate more time.

Phase I on My personal ~Juan Carlos, coming soon!!!
