Were do I begin...

Last night we witnessed the most historical event of our LiFETiME! Not only was Barak Obama elected to become the 44th President of the United States of America and the 1st African American at that, but he beat the shit out of his opponent John Mcain.

The significance of this is bigger than the color of his skin, but more importantly about the character of The Man. I mean, amongst all of the obstacles to get to the White House, Obama has displayed an overwhelming calm and security.

Can you imagine THE PRESSURE that this man is under. From death threats to character assasinations, Barack has shown the world that intelligence and a plan can take you where ever you want to go in life.

It's clear to me that our level of responsibility has to increase. Our vision has to broaden. Our dreams need to be bigger and we need to appreciate and uplift each other constantly.

Service is the new Cool!

I wish my homie Shakir Stewart could have held on to see this, it might of made a difference in his decision!

We have witnessed a Man of strong character follow the basic principles that many of us seem to have overlooked...principles that have always been the blueprint for our quest for survival...PRAYER, PERSERVERANCE AND PATIENCE. Many of us want it now, (we can;t wait until 2morrow), some of us get it Now by any means necessary and once we have it we are disappointed because its not as self fullfilling as we thought. We spend so much time trying to win everyone elses approval, trying to be judged by appearance, (trying to stand out, being a magnet of attention)..why? because thats what everyone sees...how about the unseen, how about the things that no one can not see..why do we spend our hard earn money or our very last trying to impress people that we ourselves do not even like?
In our quest for basic survival we have strayed away from our values and principles only returning to them in our time of need (some never do)....I hope that we all use Prayer to help us Perservere what lies ahead and have Patience because Change does not happen over night as everyday these are indeed some trying times and this Victory that Obama carries for all people will not be an easy one.

For whatever was going on with Shakir internally we will never know..his thoughts were concealed, whatever his pain he did not draw any of us into it.
May Shakir rest in peace as he will forever live in our hearts and be the reason that we love each other more each day!

And this is the first time i remember in my lifetime that the most popular Black man is not a rapper or athlete and I hope it gives inspiration to all the younger Black brothers!

I LIVE IN D.C. RIGHT UP FROM U STREET. HAD SCHOOL UNTIL 11 PM. I WANTED TO PARTY SOOOO BAD!!! (OKAY, I HAD A JOINT IN HONOR OF THINGS--I CONFESS)! BUT SERIOUSLY, I FELT IF THERE WAS EVER A DAY TO BE ON TIME FOR WORK, THE FOLLOWING DAY WAS IT. IF THERE WAS EVER A TIME FOR YOUNG BLACK MEN TO PULL THEIR PANTS UP AND PUT THE GUNS DOWN...WEDNESDAY WAS IT. I COULD GO ON AND ON, BUT ON A REAL NOTE, I FEEL INVINCIBLE. THERE ARE NO EXCUSES! I'M GOING TO CONTINUE GET UP EVERYDAY AND GO TO WORK, AND CONTINUE TO PUT MYSELF THROUGH SCHOOL. ITS NOTHIN. THIS IS WHAT "WE" DO! EVERYDAY! AS A PEOPLE WE WALKED SO PROUD ON THAT WEDNESDAY.
IT WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST FEELINGS IN MY LIFE!!
