I've been eating a bowl of Cheerios every day for breakfast for the last two weeks. This morning, I sat down at the table and looked at them, I gave them a good stare, and went "oh no, not you again".

When I took my first taste those many bowls ago, it was fantastic. It was as if there was a party in my mouth and all four tasty whole grains had been invited ("…Cheeririce and wheat, Cheerioats and Cheericorn, Cheerios so good to eat" or so the advert tells me). I thought they were fantastic, the different flavours complimenting each other, making each mouthful more enjoyable. I couldn't get enough of that 'yee-haw' taste. I found myself taking a handful in-between meals and scoffing it like a horse would grain out of its muzzle bag. But it wasn't so brilliant all the time…

After a couple of days, the different flavoured Os all seemed to mash together in my mouth to form a distinctly bland tasting mush which I had to force down my throught into my stomach. It got worse and worse as the ordeal went on. Breakfast was no longer enjoyable, it became a chore. Recently, I've even resorted to putting a nice thick layer of sugar over them to take the taste away but the sugar only lasts for a short time. (Perhaps the next stage is going back to replace the sugar each time it runs out).

I have also noticed upon inspecting the box that the Cheerio 'tick' is very similar to the one also used by PolyFiller or whatever it is ("Two ticks and you're done!") so there is perhaps a copyright issue there. Although, the Cheerios one has four ticks instead of the two used by PolyFiller. But Cheerios cannot be used to fill holes (unless they're landfill sites).

I would recommend using Cheerios for a period of a week (to get the most out of them), then leaving at least three years in-between each bowl to ensure your taste buds recover, return to normal and are ready for the onslaught of another bowl.
