Come learn percussion from Gaelic Storm's very own Ryan Lacey at this year's Milwaukee Irish Fest Summer School!
Ryan Lacey will be teaching 2 percussion workshops August 13th and August 14th.
Percussion Workshop: Thursday, August 13th, 9a.m. to 11a.m.
In
this open workshop Ryan will show that anyone can learn rhythm in this
two
hour hands-on drumming experience. He will give a brief description of
the drums he plays in Gaelic Storm and an open tutorial on how to play
these drums. As
well, Ryan will show how he approaches playing world drums in Irish
Music and
also how he brings in his own influences from funk to rock into the
mix.
....
He encourages everyone that attends to bring their own drums such as Djembes,
Congas, Doumbeks, Cajons or Bongos so we can all join in the fun. He will
provide drum notation of everything he focuses on for the students to take
home.
Percussion Master Class: Friday, August 14th, 10a.m. to noon
In
this class Ryan will focus more on showing how drummers can approach any music
style and infuse it with World Percussion. He will show how he brings drum beats
from the drum kit to the hand drum and vice versa to open up more avenues for
students to explore in their drumming approach. Ryan will show how to play
everything from jigs, to reels, all the way to sambas and funk music on my World
Percussion kit. And lastly, he would like to show his approach at Flintstone
soloing techniques.
....
He encourages the players to bring their own drums such as Djembes, Congas,
Doumbeks, Cajons or Bongos so you can have a bit of group play as well. He will
provide drum notation of everything he focuses on for the students to take
home.
