Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes
This Monday 20th October 2008 I will be setting off to Aberdeen on my bike from my home in Bristol. I hope to cover the distance of roughly 600 miles by 4th November.  It will be fairly leisurely at an average of 50 miles a day.

I will be getting everyone who I stay with to sign a copy of our book, the Selfsufficientish Bible* then offering it as a prize in a really simple competition -see our web forum for more details

I am also asking people to sponsor me all  money raised will be going to our local co-operative.  A group of people and one space that works as an Photo lab, bookshop, coffee shop, art space, teaching and training centre with further plans to develop into a food co-op in an area with three massive supermarkets and a lack of local shops. See here for details of how to sponsor me.,

So if you are feeling rich then sponsor me, if you are poor then wish me luck, if you are poor with rich mates then get them to sponsor me.

Cheers
Andy Hamilton
* A great Christmas present which will save you much more money than the cover price.

I am wishing you great luck and much success Super Andy. I rode my bike to Huntington Beach and back to Fullerton here in California a distance just shy of 50 miles when I was a teenager. I thought I was going to die!!!
My legs are sore just reading this blog.

May the wind be at your back all the way to Aberdeenshire,

Fred

Yep, cheers mate. I am sure if you gave it another go you could do it!

I hope the wind is at my back too, I am sure it will be in face full of hail at some points.

Oh wow! Can't believe I never read this particular blog before. I'm wishing you huge luck in retrospect! Hope the journey has been an amazing (and not too painful) one. Me and my sister are planning to cycle to another Mark W gig next April - London to Tunbridge Wells - seem spathetic compared to your epic trek! I'm feeling particularly rich at the moment (not celebrating Christmas has its perks come December!) so I'll be heading over to drop some pennies, and also asking equally rich (!) friends to do the same.

Masses of kudos - at least 600!

Cheers Knox . I did manage it in the end. I cycled 677 miles altogether. You get into a rhythm and I am sure that you could do it, just have to be stubborn and keep on going. Most things like this are mental not physical.
