Open Records is proud to present the
return to Cairns of none other than one of Australia’s best respected
and longest standing progressive artists, SunControlSpecies (aka
Wombat). Andrew
Davidson is a pioneer of the Aussie deep progressive sound, with his
long time project regarded as one of the premier acts in the global
trance scene.After over a decade of making music and numerous
singles and compilation releases, Drew finally released his debut full
length album “Scienza Nuova” on Danish super-label Iboga Records in
2007 – which was regarded as one of the best releases of last year and
firmly cemented Drew’s place in the progressive trance elite.It was around this time that Drew launched his new side-project called Wombat, this time signed to Australia's own Open Records.Wombat
represents a deeper, less-trancy side of Drew’s productions, with
influences coming from progressive house, techno, electro, tribal and
freeform music - expect the unexpected!This new Aussie
marsupial has already caused waves around the world with hit singles
“Ride Control” and “Helo” and has another EP in the works featuring a
remix by fellow Australian progressive legend Kasey Taylor.Fresh
back from an international tour, Drew has plenty of new material and
will present music from both his projects in his live set -
guaranteeing the dancefloor will be rocking with a little something for
everyone.With backing support by some of Cairns’ best DJ
talent, including Solatek, Eegor, Drewan, Suspekt and Waltek, this will
be another night to remember from Open Records in the comfort of
Cadence Lounge and Bar on the Esplanade – don’t miss out!This
isn’t Drew’s first time in Cairns and it definitely won’t be the last –
one thing is for sure though, EVERY every time you catch a SCS live
