OPNDG008 - SQL - Lactose EP (featuring R.E.Z. Remix)

After
taking a break for a few months over the Aussie summer festival season,
Open Records are back with vengeance in 2009 with a string of stellar
releases heading your way. Kicking off the year is an EP from SQL
titled the Lactose EP.
SQL is Pim van Horrsen, is a fresh
artist hailing from Amsterdam producing a wicked mix of techno, minimal
and house with touches of progressive thrown in for good measure.
Also
part of the now defunct project progressive trance project Organix, Pim
is making big impressions with his solo efforts with tracks on
Echoplast, Tribal Vision, Bluetunes, Benthic, Composure, Flow and
Plusquam.
He also is getting big respect and support from top
DJs and artists like Luke Porter, Derek Howell, Ramon Tapia,
Mechanique, Serge Devant, DJ Slater and heaps more.
The Lactose
EP features two offerings of the title track – the laid-back tech-funk
of the original, and a slightly more melancholic approach from fellow
Amsterdam residents R.E.Z – another act that will be working with Open
this year.
Expertly mastered by Danny Bonnici (of Nubreed fame)
at Liquid Mixes, Open’s first release for 2009 is already getting great
feedback from around the world, sitting at No.1 on the Release Promo
charts, making it an essential release for any fan of quality deep
progressive & techno music.

original is a nice deep set building track, however the the R.E.Z.

“Top
notch EP to start the year from Open! Both mixes are great, but I
especially love the R.E.Z. mix which is a deep hypnotic tek corker,
Definitely will play; quality brooding sound all the way through... the
original is also great though! Nice deep twisted layering &
interesting arrangements, good stuff all round from Open!”
- Gavin Martin - GMJ/Fulcrum (Open, Vapour, Green Ant) Australia
“Awesome mixes and great music. It was a pleasure working on them.”
