OPNDG009 – Urban Monkeys – Six Zeros EP (featuring Solead Remix)

After 5 years and over 20 tracks on labels like Hardplace, Bus, Disoma, Diverted Traffic and Open, Cairns’ favourite production duo the Urban Monkeys have decided to call it a day to pursue their own solo projects.

From tech-house to electro, minimal to techno, the Monkeys’ fat production and straight-up grooves have been staple diet for Australian festival and club dancefloors alike.

To celebrate their career, Open Records will release one of their last EPs this month and have enlisted French tech-house and techno masters Solead on remix duties to honour their years of hard work and dedication to their craft.

The Six Zeros EP is at the more minimal end of the Monkeys’ sound, but still features the fat bass and quirky sounds that we all know and love.

Solead’s interpretation takes a slightly more chaotic and driving techno approach, bending the sounds from the Original Mix in ways never thought possible and adding some wicked sub bass to boot.

Expertly mastered by Preference Studios in France, the Six Zeros EP is a welcome addition to Open Records’ 2009 catalogue and will no doubt be fondly remembered by Urban Monkeys fans for many years to come.
