Double O " For My Brother EP" - Hidden Hawaii 002:
Track List:
1. Niabingi (single sided vinyl 100 copies)
2. Retro (digital)
3. I Can't Sleep (digital)
Double O was there when D'n'B was born. Referring to a certain vibe of classical timelessness, he
describes his music as Detroit-Techno-Oldschool and Bass. That's why one might assume his tunes to be
from the early 90's, but Double O's tight production and extremely deep arrangement skills make his sound
as fresh as it gets. So classical it is indeed!
In Niaibingi, jagged Amen breaks meet a mind-blowing deep bass line and subtle vocals in
combination with the right dose of catchy synths create an atmosphere that will make it the perfect tune
when everyone is waiting for some deep energy to mash up the dance floor, massive crowd jumping being
the result.
What is Detroit-Techno-Oldschool and Bass? Retro gives the most obvious answer to that. This one
hits the nail on the head according to Double O's quote: "Drum and Bass should be made from the heart"
No more needs to be said but: listen carefully.
I Can't Sleep is also a deep amen driven tune, but with a more melodic touch. It reminds you of the
fact that D'n'B is not limited to move you on the dance floor. This one is also perfect to be heard while
riding the train or bus seeing urban architecture passing by and just let your mind drift away.
Putting out music for people who love to find the gems of electronic music, Niabingi is released as
a strongly limited single-sided vinyl edition making up one part of the For My Brother EP. The other
part, I Can't Sleep and Retro, will be released digitally to blast your iPods as well as your D/A interfaces.
