Current mood: excited Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes
Hey guys! Sorry that it's been a while since my last success-related blog, but I've been running crazy with so many shoots lately....and for the first time, in a WHILE, actually sitting back and watching a little HDTV programming, traveling, playing basketball, riding the train for fun and trying to enjoy this short life a little..& buying an XBOX 360 today...if you have one, hit me up and I'll tell u my screen name so that we can play one day! LOL
ANYWAY, I have people asking me how can they grow personally and financially during these "tough" economic times.
1. Have FAITH and be confident! I can't stress that enough. If you're wondering where your next check is coming from then you're already in the wrong state of mind. Just TRUST that it will come. Remember: What's printed on every piece of money that we have? The first person who answers this will receive a free book from me! :)
2. Find a field that you're PASSIONATE about and learn as much as possible. I READ cinematography/film books ALL the time...but I also read books on sales and business as well. Remember, Michael Jackson (RIP) was the BEST-SELLING artist...but was he the BEST-SINGING artist of all time? So you HAVE to know the business side of your craft.
3. COLLABORATE (hint: myspace) with as many people/companies as possible. Even if you don't make anything ($$) in the beginning, just see how you can add VALUE to them and their business. *When you help other people make a profit first, they're almost COMPELLED to help you make a profit.* I am about to start shooting a series of TV pilots for a person whom I helped out ALL last year on several shoots. While adding value to this person, I was also able to meet music artist T.I., Tiny & and several other big celebrities, personally.
4. Have fun & don't watch the news. Ok, you can watch the news but try to limit it to ONE murder and ONE robbery. Anymore and you'll be walking around looking over your shoulder every 5 seconds. Also, turn off anything when people are talking about how "bad" the economy is and how they're losing hope.
*I have a friend who lost his job, and went out and started cutting grass. While you may be laughing and saying that you'd never do that, he made more in 3 days working for himself than he would have made in 2 full-time weeks on the job. And just think, he doesn't even have to work the graveyard shift anymore! Kudos homie!
5. Set a daily/weekly goal. A monetary goal is fine. But I'm talking about a number of goals as far as making phone calls, emailing potential clients, handing out business cards...that type of thing....ummm..most people call it WORK! lol
*Hint* I promise you that if you personally talk to or email 100-150 people a day, your next problem will be what size flat screen to buy. I dare you to try me on that!
6. ASK the right QUESTIONS! Don't try to just "sell" someone on your product or service. Ask them questions and they'll tell you exactly what they need and how they need it. Then you just step in and fulfill those wishes and you're automatically their HERO! :)
7. Don't be AFRAID to ask for the sale! Or to close it! Once you see buying signs, close ASAP...if you want me to write about the 5 or 6 most CRUCIAL buying signs from a client, leave me a comment below stating that and I will.
*Hint* I just showed you how to make an extra $2000/month and I want my 20%! LOL
My paypal is rwms14@yahoo.com.
Lastly, have fun and enjoy life. Save but don't worry about "saving" money. Think on and practice MAKING money by giving VALUE to customers, and the saving SHOULD take care of itself, as long as u don't make too many trips to the mall! LOL or eat lamb everyday! LOL
Keep enjoying your summer and if you read this far comment below to at least let me know what you liked about this blog and what you're doing this summer! Work-related AND fun-related! LOL
