Current mood:  tired

PVSC Rally Recap:

Friday:

12noon: I call Gabe from work to let him know that funds only allow us to make the trip down to PVSC, but not back.  A plan to bring clothes to sell is hatched.

6pm:  I ditch out of the scooter shop as soon as the doors shut to run home and frantically pack.

7pm: Wrenching on Gabe's TV175 because he has unknowingly overfilled the case with gear oil.

8pm: Regretfully still in Ypsi.  The TV has driven for 5 minutes only to blow up.  The engine makes wonderful metal-on-metal grindy noises.

9pm: A decision is made to leave the TV behind.  Packing finally begins.

9:30pm: Gabe and I roll out of Ypsi down US-23 with the camping gear, vintage clothing and my Li125

Saturday:

2:00am: 5 hours and $50 later, the truck arrives in Somerset, OH.  We make the turn at the second church.  We miss the left turn into band camp before the stone bridge and keep going instead.

2:30am: The truck is running out of gas. The road seems to never end.  Turning back is not an option. The praying begins.

3:00am Civilization is spotted and the road miraculously dead ends into a gas station. Closed, it opens at 5am.  Gabe and I break out the blankies and cozy up in the cab for the night.

5:00am  The gas station opens.  We fuel up to head back down the road from which we came. Gabe buys a stick of beef jerky and has jerky breath the remainder of the morning.

5:30am We find the camp. (yay) But are too tired to celebrate and fall asleep in the truck instead.

8:00 We set up the tent and start mingling.  Heather is the first to find us, on a morning doggie walk - then later Sprunch with the aforementioned pug. Breakfast is served.

10:00 Fixing begins on the Li125's shifting issues, turning it from a two speed into a single speed.  It still retains its usefulness as potty transportation.

12:00 Afternoon finds us selling wares and socializing.

4pm With Jes & her cooler in tow, the truck rolls into the section of the camp known as "skinhead island".  (Gabe has been talking about wanting to go to skinhead island all day.) While Jes & I are riding it, the Li125 breaks a throttle cable and loses its functionality.

8pm The truck rolls out of skinhead island with a tailgate full of 'em.  I park it by the main stage.

10pm  The band plays, the fireworks go off, then Gabe and I move the truck back to the tent. He mentions something drunkenly about going to sleep, which I assumed meant something else, but indeed means going to sleep.  My handsome boyfriend is asleep before midnight at a rally - snoring.  I stay awake listening to the late night bachelor party antics.

Sunday

1am Gabe wakes up but is still drunk and doesn't make much sense.  It takes a lot of cajoling to get him to put his pants on to take a leak outside of the tent rather than inside.

7am Gabe wakes me up.  I reluctantly open my eyes and start packing up.

11am We say our goodbyes and thankyous and head back onto the road towards Michigan.
