Hey y'all,

So - as I mentioned earlier - I'm not much longer for New York City.

At the end of June, I'll be heading back to Birmingham, where I plan on a good deal of porch-sitting and guitar-picking. I'll also be making some road trips to places I'm thinking about moving to and playing rock music in. Chances are, I'll relocate to one of the following places:
Athens, GA
Nashville/Murfreesboro, TN
Austin, TX
Chapel Hill, NC
or....
I might decide that I'd most love to stay in Birmingham.

If any of y'all have any input on those places, I'd love to hear it. I'm not super familiar with any of them (aside from B'ham) so I need all the help I can get.

Also, if you play music in any of those places, like the jams, and might want to get together and make noise, I'd definitely be down to do so. Hit me up.

I am an old Austin man here and was at one time a music-maker there myself. Let me make Austin's case: Willie Nelson, Stevie Ray Vaughn/Double Trouble, Jimmie Vaughn/Fabulous Thunderbirds, The Armadillo, Robert Earl Keen, Junior Brown, Marcia Ball, Los Lonely Boys, Spoon, Malford Milligan, Chris Layton, Tommy Shannon, Charlie Sexton, Doyle Bramhall, Arc Angels, Storyville, Beto y los Fairlanes.....you get the idea!

Nashville and Austin are both nice places, but they're big cities, too. Now, if you like that kind of thing and need the city life, then I guess you'd be drawn towards either one of them.

I can't say anything bad at all about Chapel Hill, either. It's the closest thing to Athens you'll ever find...but despite all the things I love about Chapel Hill (and there are many), it's just not Athens.

There's only one Athens, GA.

Ya know, Athens, GA is cool 'cause Patterson Hood made it cool. I have friends that play and live in Murfeesboro, TN. Check out Quincey Meeks. He's one of my friends on myspace and in real life too : )
He plays with The Last Straw.
I like the songs on your profile. If me and hubby can make it to T-town to Egan's maybe we'll meet. I haven't been back to my alma mater since DBT played with the Dexateens, was that a year ago? I don't know. I'm horrible with time.
Of course, I have to say that you should stay in Bama, but even if you go, it'll always be home.
